Happy Sunday All!

I hope you’ve all had a great weekend and gotten in some nice relaxation and rest to gear up for the new week ahead. I’ve been diligently planning my breakfast, lunch and snacks for the week and I’ve got hold of this brilliant idea to put all my meals in mason jars ( sadly, not mine! ), but which I found on this amazing food/fitness blog – Big Red Kitchen – written by it’s founder, Robin, whose fantastic imagination and creativity when it comes to healthy food and how to do it fast and effectively really inspires! You can see more on her Mason Jar Meals – here. Other than that, I’ve been playing the PS3 all weekend with my boyfriend to kind of zen out and let me just say that the original Silent Hill is SO scary!! I seriously couldn’t get past the first level. IT’S SO CREEPY! I also played some Little Big Planet (so cute!) and then my newest obsession : JK Rowling’s Book of Spells by Miranda Goshawk which is this interactive game for the PS3 Move which allows you to learn how to do all the spells from Harry Potter (time to geek out and gush!) and OMG it is AWESOME! If you’re a fan of the books or films or whatever, I highly recommend it. It’s obviously meant for young children, but I have absolutely no shame in enjoying it regardless! I will try to post some images on Instagram (@StorybookBeauty) if you guys would like to see what the game looks like. It is SO MUCH FUN!

  1. My favorite song of the moment is Radioactive by Imagine Dragons. 
  2. I have an obsession with all things fantasy related including HP, OUAT & Grimm.
  3. I love zombie films!
  4. I really enjoy film score soundtracks.
  5. When I was 5, I once peed myself on the swings at school ( you totally needed to know that).
  6. I have a strange like for checking the mail ever since I was young. I think it’s because nobody ever wrote me letters and I was always hoping someone would Lol. Now I look forward to beauty parcels !
  7. My favorite drink is milk tea with boba or jasmine tea with aloe jelly. YUM!

Ten Questions from Breige:

What is your favourite TV show and why? It’s so hard to pick a favorite as I love quite a few these days, but probably Once Upon A Time as it really has the most diverse and fun story to theory craft on at the moment! I love fairy tales so it’s no wonder that I love this show. You can see my recent post on it – here.

Do you have a song that you don’t mind playing on repeat? There are loads, but one of my favorites at the moment is Florence + the Machine’s “Shake It Out” as it’s really easy to relate to and uplifting all at once. You can listen to it in my workout playlist – here.

What is the coolest thing that you have ever done? I dunno. I really enjoyed going to the UK when I was 15. That was TONS of fun and really cool to see Cardiff Castle, Tower of London, Big Ben, and go shopping and meet new people. I even got to go to school with my friends from Wales who went to a Welsh school. It was crazy to hear people speaking fluent Welsh and also to see the difference between US and UK education. Theirs is better! Lol.

What do you think makes a good blog? I think interesting, helpful, and inventive content makes a good blog. I notice that the ones who teach me new things and show me products I’ve never seen before or maybe beauty reviews that I’m curious about and do so in a fun way are the ones I keep going back to. I love a good sense of humor as well! You should be able to laugh at life and yourself.

What do you think makes a good blogger? As I said above, I think it’s someone who really knows how to write about things in a new and interesting way or is creative and can show you and teach you new things to make life more fun or just easier. Also, I really love a good sense of humor.

What is your favourite online shop? That is SO difficult to answer, but one I really love is BeautyHabit and then I love everything on Etsy and Sephora pretty much!

Tell me something completely random about yourself. I am so terrible at answering these ones. Uhmmmm. I’m really in love with the Gourmet Shrimp Taco Plate at Rubios right now. It is the most delicious thing EVER. Seriously. If you can, go try it RIGHT NOW. Lol.

  1. I have the same birthday as Adolf Hitler (April 20th) and was perpetually made fun of for it all through grade school! It was seriously embarrassing, though my older brother thought it was hilarious.
  2. My mom is blonde hair, blue eyed, though you’d never know looking at me!
  3. I’ve lived in California for the majority of my life, but moved 5 times throughout my childhood. I hated it, at the time, but now I love to travel and I find I’m more open to change.
  4. I attended 3 different high schools, 4 elementary schools, and only 1 middle school.
  5. I was voted “Most Likely to Succeed” in high school. I still don’t get it?
  6. I am a huge Spice Girls fan. I used to own a spaghetti strap (1999 called! It wants it’s shirt back!) that said “Girl Power!” on it. Yeah, still a feminist 10 yrs later!
  7. As a child, my favorite films included Beauty and the Beast, The Little Rascals (B&W originals), Pinocchio, and the Brave Little Toaster.

1. What do you feel your purpose is in life?

I feel like my purpose in life is to connect with people and tell stories. Whether that is through writing, acting, or art, that’s what I truly love. Oh! I also love to cook and travel. Definitely need to be doing those 2 as well 😉

2.What is your favorite book? 

There are way too many books that I love, but my all time favorite series is Harry Potter by JK Rowling and my current favorite series is the Millennium Series by Stieg Larsson.

3. Who or what inspires you most in life?

Stories, especially fantasy and science fiction, inspire me a lot. I have a love for film, books, and anything that can tell a good story.

4. Would you rather donate time or money?

It depends on what it is, but usually time.

5. What are your best qualities? 

My ability to make people laugh, cheer people up, and my gift giving ability. Seriously, I give some epic gifts ;-).

6. If you were an organ in the body which would you be and why? 

Uhhh..no idea.. a heart, maybe? I’m alive, full of energy, and I never stop moving (very twitchy disposition).

7. Why do you blog? 

I blog because I love to tell stories. I love to tell people about the things that interest me, whether beauty, fitness, health or something random that I thought about today. I also love people. People truly fascinate me and I love meeting and learning about all different types of people from all over the world. It’s magical.

8. What is your greatest accomplishment? 

No idea as I’m not dead yet so I can’t properly assess this one…

9. Who is your role model/ hero and why?

My role models are positive people who have an impact on the world and artists whose work inspires me. Examples – James Cameron, Leonardo DiCaprio, Angelina Jolie, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bob Ross, Mr. Rogers, Bill Nye, Christopher Nolan, and many others.

10. If you could be anything or anyone in the world,what would it be and why?

I would be an actor and a writer. I love to act more than anything and I love to write as well; both are great ways to share my stories with others – one with words and one with actions.

Favorite Blog Post Of Mine: 

This is really a difficult one, but I really enjoyed a recent post I did on Fall Fashion Finds for 2012 – Inspired by Lisbeth Salander.

  • If you could be a celebrity for a day who would you be and why? This is kind of difficult for me to answer because I really like being me; I just want to be an improved, richer, and more fulfilled version of myself so yeah.
  • If you could have one wish granted what would it be? To win a crap load of money so I can spend my time working toward things I really want in life as opposed to working and doing what I love on the side all the time.
  • What is one thing that you just don’t understand? I just don’t understand racism, sexism, or people who think the world is going to end.

  6. I own an Alienware laptop; a gift from my boyfriend

Yay!

To me, these blogger awards are akin to my receiving packages in the mail – I basically turn into a giddy 12 year old fawning over shiny, happy things.

Special thanks to Masquerade21 over @BeautyandtheBestoftheRest, whose blog I’m always perusing and reading for the latest in beauty, fashion and frankly reading whatever she posts on; she’s just an interesting read and I like to lurk in peoples’ lives okay!

I am Italian Sicilian AND Irish so this sort of nosiness just can’t be helped; it runs in my blood!

7 Things About Me

  1. I have been fantasizing daily about going to the Wizarding World of HP for the past 2 months. I’m a HUGE fan and it’s seriously some sort of crime that I haven’t been yet!!
  2. I ❤ jasmine green tea.
  3. My current favorite fruit is the blood orange – seems super stereotypical since I am Italian, but whatever, I’m owning it!
  4. I own a Nissan Versa, which I bought purely because I wanted the car that I saw Hiro driving in Heroes – I know, I am such a victim of product placement!
  5. I have 3 vinyl decals on my car – Sign of the Deathly Hallows, Mockingjay and a purple Zombie Hello Kitty.
  6. I seem to have a bit of an obsession with saying “Blam!” lately whenever I want to sound impressive. It’s kind of ridiculous, but it makes me laugh so there. Don’t you try and steal my simple joys in life!
  7. I am in the process of getting a membership at Crunch Gym so look forward to random posts about how I am doing weird workouts such as Anti-Gravity Yoga and Body Web TRX.

Thanks so much to Colleen @ Beauty Botanica for nominating my for the Illuminating Blogger Award! I know, for a lot of people, blogger awards may seem tired, but I think it’s a great way to promote my favorite bloggers and other awesome blogs so yeah, here we go! Plus, I always feel so special being nominated because it means somebody likes my posts and reads them and why else am I blogging if not to bring happiness and fun beauty stuff to others, right???
