Happy Thursday!

I hope you’re all having a fantastic day!

I’m so excited to share this incredible hair care line with you today! It was sent to me for review from their salon in London, UK, and I’ve been loving it since it arrived really.

It is the Gielly Green Luxury Natural Hair Care and they’ve sent me their Repair Shampoo and Repair Mask for review. I’ve been using both for a few weeks regularly now and I’m super excited because this line is just amazing!

Repair Shampoo and Complementary Mask image

Repair Shampoo + Complementary Mask

First off, the shampoo and repair mask both smell incredible!

Not only do they both have this amazing cocoa vanilla type scent to them, which I love, but they also work really well to cleanse and condition the hair without stripping it of valuable natural oils. Instead, their formulas include a variety of natural plant oils and butters to repair damage, strengthen and restore elasticity, and add hydration and shine. The Repair Shampoo that I received really lathers quite nicely and cleanses the hair well without feeling drying at all.  My only complaint is that it doesn’t detangle much, but the repair mask definitely does the rest of the work really well anyway so that’s just nit-picking at this point.

Gielly Green Repair Mask

The Repair Mask is mud based, but also includes a variety of natural oils to refine and soften hair as well as  improve shine, elasticity and, of course, repair damage done. I really like the creaminess of this conditioner. It looks like custard in the jar and smells like dessert as well, but don’t eat it! It conditions, softens and detangles locks really nicely and it’s much much easier to comb through once I’m done showering.

Over these past few weeks, this set from Gielly Green has made my hair much more manageable, softer, shinier (though not oilier, thankfully), added volume, and a lot less dead looking. The winter and too much hair coloring really did a number on my hair and this has made my hair look much more healthy and full of life. I also love that the products are all naturally formulated, sulfate free and include beneficial plant oils and butters for optimal hydration and repair through the use of natural ingredients. I definitely plan on purchasing this set once I run out of the samples that Gielly Green sent me and I would highly recommend it to anyone who has damaged or frequently tangled hair, especially if it’s long, because this does the trick!

I’d Love to Know in the Comments!

Sole Rescue Foot Balm

I’ve been testing out this Sole Rescue Foot Balm from Max Green Alchemy for a few weeks now. It was sent to me for review and, originally, I thought I wouldn’t care for it. Not that I thought I wouldn’t like it; anything by Max Green Alchemy is pretty much gold in my eyes and that’s been plastered across my blog posts since the beginning, but I simply thought, what am I supposed to do with a foot balm?

I mean, I don’t really use them at all in everyday life, but now that I’ve had the chance to try this one, that may change! The amazing formula of Max Green Alchemy is simple, yet effective, and, of course, all natural.

This balm really does soften feet, especially rough heels, and it does so with an all natural, organic, and steroid free formula that the Skin Deep EWG Database even approves of!

Nearly all of their products have a 0-2 rating which, in EWG language, means that the risk of using their products is extremely low.

You can see the risk ratings for all of their products here or by visiting EWG.Org/SkinDeep and typing in the company’s name to see the risk of using their products.

I am seriously impressed by the Max Green Alchemy risk ratings, which are very low, and also by the effectiveness of their products. They are one of the few brands that truly have my total and utter stamp of approval in every area, from effectiveness to naturalness, and they’re absolutely worth a look!

Their products range from skincare to hair care, styling products, nail care and yes, foot care.

I get a lot of questions from readers asking me what cleansers would work best for their skin type so I thought I would post a few of my favorites that will work for one or more skin types so there are multiple options to choose from. I tried to keep everything on the affordable side, though some are more pricey. I hope you enjoy!

23148-300

Original Konjac Sponge; $9

ALL SKIN TYPES, EVEN SENSITIVE

This is a great one for all skin types! It’s super gentle, mildly exfoliating and non-irritating even for those with sensitive skin. You can even get these with different clays in them, if you like, depending on your skin type. Check those out here. This is a great cleansing tool + cleanser in one if you like to keep your routine simple, yet effective. Check out my review on this original sponge here!

Suti CLEANSE Organic Balm; £26.00

ALL SKIN TYPES, ESPECIALLY DRY, SENSITIVE, ACNE PRONE & ROSACEA TYPES

This is seriously one of my favorites! I think this could also work for any skin type as well. It’s a bit more on the expensive side of things, but it works incredibly well and is worth the price to me. If you have oily or combination to oily skin, you’ll want to use this with the muslin cloth to get more exfoliation and cleansing action, but if you’re more on the dry or sensitive side of things, you can simply massage this into your skin and rinse with warm water then pat dry. Check out my full review here.

Cleanse & Polish™ Hot Cloth Cleanser

Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser; 24.50

ALL SKIN TYPES EXCEPT DRY & HYPER-SENSITIVE TYPES

ESPECIALLY GOOD FOR ACNE PRONE & OILY SKIN TYPES!

Another new favorite, this one is great for all skin types, though I don’t recommend it to anyone who has a sensitivity to essential oils or to someone with dry skin. This is really cleansing and creamy, but it’s not super nourishing so if you need that extra moisture, it’s better to go with the Suti CLEANSE, the AB Cleansing Oil or LN Vitalising Cleanser (see below). This one works especially well for those with combination to oily or oily skin and is really effective for those with clogged pores or acne. This gentle cleanse + exfoliate combo is great for clearing the skin. Check out my full review on this here.

100ml

Living Nature Vitalising Cleanser; $35

ALL SKIN TYPES, EXCEPT SUPER OILY TYPES.

ESPECIALLY GOOD FOR DRY, SENSITIVE SKIN TYPES!

This is a really nourishing cleanser! It’s super gentle so it would be great for those with dry skin, sensitive skin or combination skin in the winter. I also find it’s nice to use when my combo to oily skin is looking particularly red or irritated because it helps to calm things down a lot. The scent in this is super subtle and there’s no sulfate or foaming; it actually just feels like a light, easily absorbed lotion only you rinse after. It leaves the skin feeling really soft and hydrated. See my full review here.

Antonia Burrell Natural Glow Cleansing Oil; $102

ALL SKIN TYPES

If you’ve been following for awhile, you may know about my love for cleansing oils. If not, well, I love them! They are great for all skin types most of the time and they work so well at balancing the skin out, whether your problem is dryness, oiliness, clogged pores or redness. I love cleansing oils for when my skin is just completely out of whack and off balance. It’s a great way to balance everything out and calm any irritations. Plus, cleansing oils, a lot of the time, are easily absorbed into the skin and help to cleanse the skin without stripping anything from it. Also, they work well as an all-in-one type makeup remover and cleanser. Just be sure to do it 2x! See my full review for this cleansing oil here.

AMPM Wakeup Skin Smooth Washing Powder

NARUKO AMPM Wakeup Skin Smoothing Washing Powder; $14

OILY TO COMBINATION SKIN, ESPECIALLY THOSE WITH ACNE PRONE SKIN

NOT FOR DRY OR SENSITIVE TYPES

I love to use washing powders during hot, humid months when my skin is super oily and has a tendency to get congested. This is a great way to gently exfoliate the skin without being harsh while getting a good cleanse in. Plus, this one is only mildly foaming so it’s not as harsh as the OTC drugstore acne cleansers that can do more harm than good with their crap ingredients. This one includes rice powder and other ingredients to gently cleanse, smooth, and brighten the skin. See my full review on this here.

Fresh Soy Face Cleanser

Fresh Soy Face Cleanser; $15

ALL SKIN TYPES

ESPECIALLY GOOD FOR SENSITIVE SKIN

GREAT FOR MAKEUP REMOVAL

This is an old favorite! It’s really great for any skin type, but it works especially well for those with sensitive skin or if you like to use a separate cleanser for makeup removal, this is a nice one. It smells really super fresh (actually true lol) – just like cucumbers. It’s very mild and more milky than foamy so it’s non-stripping to the skin. This is a really nice gel type textured cleanser and is great if you’re someone who doesn’t want to strip the skin of it’s natural oils, but also hates the oily feel of cleansing oils or balms. This one is a nice middle ground that will leave your skin cleansed, but not tight or dry. See my full review on this here.

What’s your favorite go-to cleanser?

Erbaviva Hand Cream Review

I had never heard of Erbaviva until recently when this was sent to me for review, but I’m really thrilled they did send it because it’s a really nice cream that is extremely softening, hydrating, nourishing, and smoothing to hands, cuticles and nails.

I’m not normally the kind of girl who would spend a lot of money on a good hand cream, but I have been searching for one for past few months as I’ve noticed my hands looking wrinkled and dry and was mildly terrified at the sight of them. LOL. So I was pretty happy when this was sent to me for review because it moisturizes really well over time, not just right when applied and then your hands go back to being dried out again in an hour. This stuff offers hydration that lasts.

USDA Certified Organic, Erbaviva offers a line of body products for babies, mommies and mommies-to-be, though anyone can use them of course. They are free from animal testing, artificial dyes and fragrances and they utilize a variety of plant, flower, herb, and fruit extracts, oils and essential oils in their formulas for all natural healing and nourishment.

Whatever their formula, it certainly is effective in this luxurious hand cream!

Not only does this smell incredible, it’s very light and a little bit spreads easily over your hands, absorbed into the skin almost instantly with no greasy residue.

I have been using this for about a month now and I notice my hands are noticeably softer, smoother, more even toned, hydrated and youthful looking.

I definitely recommend this one. Although it is a bit pricey at $16 USD, it’s a product that is certainly worth it, in my opinion, and that will last you a decent amount of time (I’ve used mine for a month and it still feels full).

Gentle Face Cleanser + Exfoliant + Moisturizer + Face Mask : Suti’s CLEANSE Organic Facial Cleansing Balm & Muslin Cloth

If you’ve been following along for a bit, you may have seen my original post on Suti Skincare, but if not, you may have seen the reviews I did for their Peppermint Face Toner and Purity Balm Moisturizer, which I also featured as one of my June Beauty Favorites. If not, do check them out! I’ve become such a huge fan of Suti since first trying samples of their stuff a few months back. They are truly one of those organic beauty brands that offer quality products that are also very effective and that is something to be applauded. They’re already one a few awards for their efforts including Best Beauty Newcomer by Sublime Magazine for 2011 and it’s all very well deserved.

Their Organic Cleanse Balm is certainly no different than any of their products in terms of quality. Although you get a modest sized jar, I can fully attest to the fact that a little really actually does go a long way. This will last you several months. It’s a very compact balm in the jar and a dime sized amount easily melts in your hand and onto your face. This is a different kind of cleanser entirely to the typical foam and rinse types; it requires a bit more work, but the payoff is better. You really have to massage this kind of cleanser into your face really well to get the results you want, otherwise this is just oil sitting on your face being useless, albeit really high quality oils. In order to get the full effect, you must massage this into your skin for at least a minute and you can leave it on for 5-20 minutes if you want to get added mask effects. It really deep cleans the pores without being drying to the skin and, when used with the muslin cloth (free when you purchase the Cleanse Balm, BTW!), it exfoliates your skin in an extremely gentle way that doesn’t irritate, just brightens and tones. I really like their muslin cloth as well; it’s unbleached and natural and it’s really quite soft. This one is certainly higher quality than the one from Liz Earle, though both get the job done at any rate.

Aside from being an incredible cleanser, it also really hydrates the skin really well. Amid the scorching heat we’ve been enduring lately, I’ve been using this alone. I did test it with the Purity Balm on cooler days and it worked really well combined with that too, though a bit too moisturizing for the hot, miserably humid days we’ve been experiencing for the past 3 weeks (Ugh.)

The things I truly love about this cleanser are that it is very gentle and includes a lot of healing ingredients. On days when my skin just feels downright abused (like when I feel oily, dirty, but still dry – WTF?), this is an absolutely skin saver. It just feels so nourishing and the nourishing oils sink right into the skin, leaving my skin feeling super soft and supple. I have truly loved this on hot days (believe it or not) because it’s allowed me to combine cleansing with moisturizing and it leaves my skin feeling balanced because I can buff this off my face with warm water and the muslin cloth after massaging it into the skin.

This is definitely a more expensive cleansing balm, but as far as cleansing balms go, this is the best one I’ve ever tried and truly worth the price in my opinion. I know a lot of people don’t like to spend a lot on skincare, but it’s something I think is truly worth investing in because your face is the only one you’ve got and it deserves the best.

Keep Cool In This Heat with Suti’s Peppermint Water Facial Toner

If you’ve been following along for awhile now, you’ll know how much I’ve come to love Suti Skincare. Ever since they sent me mini samples a few months ago, I’ve been a serious convert of their products. After all, they’re made with all natural and organic ingredients, quality packaging and their products are above all, effective.

So, when they agreed to send me more products for review, of course I said yes!

This is one of the awesome products they’ve sent me that has seriously been a godsend. I was actually complaining about the unbearable heat in an email to one of their lovely reps when she agreed to send this to me!

I cannot thank her enough! Seriously, this toner is so cooling given the peppermint in it, plus it comes in a very convenient spray bottle that I keep in my purse for every hour on the hour that I’m guaranteed to be sweating. Did I mention my office has no AC? We have a very large glorified fan that manages to cool down the hallway and little else, but this toner has been doing all the work to keep me from dying of heat overload. Not only that, but it helps to calm redness and irritation so I’ve been using it at night to help get rid of 2 spots that popped up when the weather took a turn for the worse (105 degrees F here today!). It’s meant for combination to oily skin types, but I actually think anyone with any skin type could use this one. It is gentle, calming and doesn’t have any added fragrance so the scent of peppermint is just barely discernible. The effects, on the other hand, are subtle yet immediately cooling and calming.

All in all, a seriously awesome product made with only the best ingredients – pure organic peppermint leaf water.

It’s pretty pricey at £18.00 (approx. $36 USD), but you do get a fair amount of product (100mL) and it really does last you.

Suti Skincare’s Purity Balm Review

So, not that long ago I reviewed some mini samples that were sent to me from Suti Skincare (see those reviews – here!) and I had tried the mini sample of this balm, but I just didn’t get the hype. That being said, I was only able to get like 3 uses out of the little jar they sent so of course I wouldn’t be able to get a good feel for something like this that effects the skin over time. That being said, apparently Suti reps agreed with this notion and decided to send me a full size of this one to try to get a better feel for it!

So yay! I am super happy I was able to try the full size of this because it has been amazing at calming my skin down on days when I’m just red and blotchy, dry or even riddled with breakouts for no damn reason. My skin has a mind of it’s own at times and just does whatever it pleases so this was great to have on hand because it actually does wonders at calming, nourishing and healing flare-ups of any kind whatsoever.

It feels really gritty straight out of the jar, but it melts on contact with the skin and soon turns into an oil type balm texture. I love the impressive ingredient list and the fact that it’s certified organic in the U.K. where certification requirements are much more strict than in the U.S. The main superstars in this are the calendula, chamomile and lavender which all work wonders to soothe the skin. Plus, this balm smells wonderful and really helps to relax me in the evenings before bed.

Ingredients: Vitellaria Niloteca (Shea Butter)*, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil*, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Kernel Oil*, Cera Alba (Beeswax)*, Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil*, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract*, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil*, Tocopherol, Anthemis Nobilis (Roman Chamomile) Flower Oil*, Linalool**, Geraniol**, Limonene**

* Certified Organic  ** Naturally occurring in essential oils

The heavy jar packaging is really nice and classy looking and it comes with an odd plastic spatula thing meant to help scoop the balm out of the jar, but it’s so thin and has no actual spoon or anything on the end. I really felt it was quite useless and threw it away after getting frustrated trying to use it. I like the idea behind it, but the design of this is such crap and it’s confusing because the jar is really top notch quality. Anyhow, I just ended up using one of my spoons instead because I find it’s more effective than the crap stick they sent.

Okay so back to how amazing this balm is!

It feels really softening on the skin and it actually has similar effects on my skin that their cleansing balm did only without having to rinse. It is so protective as well, but it doesn’t feel at all heavy or thick. It didn’t make me break out; quite the opposite, this helped clear some breakouts I had going on.

I highly recommend this to any and all skin types. It is so great to use when your skin is out of balance or just freaking out for no reason which I think can happen to us all sometimes. It will work especially well for those with dry, sensitive or even acne prone skin types because it’s very hydrating, calming, and balancing. The soothing ingredients in this are great for all types and gentle enough for those who can’t use drugstore type products. The ingredients are truly top quality and beneficial for the skin. It is a bit expensive, but it’s completely worth it, in my opinion, because the quality and effects are amazing. As disgustingly marketing jargon this is going to come off as, it really does “feed your skin” as their slogan states and I really believe anyone could benefit from using this balm.

One of My Favorite Affordable Naturally Brightening, Skin Smoothing and Blemish Clearing Exfoliation Treatments!

Papaya & Willow Bark Smoothing Enzyme Exfoliator; $14.95

Happy Friday Everyone!

I just wanted to take a moment to let you all know about this amazing skin exfoliator I have used that has a pretty natural ingredient list, an awesome price (see above), and really great results.

The Papaya & Willow Bark Smoothing Enzyme Exfoliator by Claribel Skincare is ultra gentle and very effective. I purchased it off Etsy for only $14.95 USD, which is an incredible price, and I was very surprised at the results.

The formula is pretty simple and includes aloe vera, papaya enzymes and willow bark extract to gently exfoliate the dead skin cells off your face in only 2-10 minutes!

It’s a very watery type consistency, but it comes in a dropper bottle to ensure you get just the exact amount that you will need, which isn’t a lot by the way.

You apply a thin layer to your face and leave on for 2-10 minutes. You will feel a light tingling and sometimes a little of an itchy type sensation, but that’s supposed to happen. Obviously you want to wash it off right away if you experience anything more than that. It doesn’t really dry out or anything, it just feels a bit tingly and then you rinse after it’s been 2-10 minutes, no longer than that. It really is quite gentle as far as exfoliator treatments go, but see what time you’re comfortable with within the 2-10 minutes of recommended time. Everyone is different so you may find that you only need 2 minutes or you might need all 10. Your skin may change over time as well; just gauge it on how your skin feels and you’ll be fine.

Anyhow, so after I wash this treatment off my skin feels incredibly soft and smooth. I do experience a little bit of redness directly after using this, but it goes away within 30 minutes of washing this off and applying moisturizer.

What I love about this treatment is that there are “No Sulfates, Synthetic Preservatives, Petroleum, Parabens or Silicones.” Also, it’s gentle enough to use twice a day if you need it.

From my experimenting with this treatment, I have found that these are the best uses for it:

  • Acne Treatment
  • Blackhead / Whitehead Treatment
  • Pore Cleansing
  • Unclog Pores
  • Clear Dead Skin Cells
  • Slough Off Dry Skin / Flakes for Mature Skin
  • Regenerate and Stimulate Cell Regeneration
  • Get Healthy and Naturally Glowing Skin

I really love this product because it combines modern technology with natural plant power. I love natural and organic ingredients wherever possible, but I have found that when it comes to acid exfoliation, technology usually wins. Also, I hate purchasing a product that’s natural or organic and usually expensive only to find that it doesn’t work. I like the idea of Claribel Skincare taking the best of both worlds to offer affordable products that certainly get the job done, but without all the fillers and other unnecessary crap ingredients found in many mainstream brand products.

Suti Skincare Mini Sample Reviews

If you’re unfamiliar, Suti Skincare is an organic natural skincare line from the UK that utilizes natural and organic vegetable oils, essential oils and extracts to improve the skin by treating blemishes, hyper-pigmentation, wrinkles, fine lines, and encouraging cell turnover with their simple line of products in order to improve the skin’s state of being in a natural way.

Their line is fairly simple, but after trying the following lovely samples, I can honestly say they are, for the most part, very effective and worth the investment!

Here’s the skinny on my experiences with them!

Fabulous Foot Balm

So to keep this short and sweet, I really loved this foot balm.

I am not even really a foot balm sort of person, but hey, they sent it to me so I tried it and I really enjoyed it!

It smells really therapeutic and relaxing, but unfortunately the sample was literally only enough for one go of it and then it was all gone. 😦

It definitely softened my heels overnight in one application so I was super psyched by the effects!

This balm, like all of the Suti balms I received, looks super grainy, but once you rub it between your palms, it melts into an oil with no grains or anything in sight.

This works great; I definitely recommend it if you can get a hold of some!

Check out Suti’s Fabulous Foot Balm – here!

Cleanse Facial Cleanser

This was my favorite product of the lot.

It feels really sort of odd to apply.

The majority of their products look like grainy balms, but they all feel a bit different.

This one feels like a balm, but melts into an oil.

When mixed with water, it pretty much stays oily and has no lather at all, but melts into your skin and rinses easily offer after you massage it into your face.

It kind of reminded me of the Carrot Butter Cleanser that I recently reviewed by Organic Pharmacy (Check it out – here!) only, this cleanser gave me even better results than that and is nearly $12 USD cheaper!

I used this cleanser in the evening before bed and woke up with a nice glow, cleared breakouts and no redness or dryness.

It even seemed to smooth some of the fine lines I have!

All of these results in the little tiny sample that I used for only a week, so I was very impressed!

I highly recommend this cleanser for anyone with any skin type, especially if you’ve been doing the facial massage techniques I talked about – here – because it works really well to unclog pores, calm inflammation in the skin, and hydrate while smoothing the skin out overall when using this technique!

I actually think this is worth the money if you’re someone like me that has combination skin, battle dryness in the cheeks, oiliness in the T-zone and mild to moderate breakouts.

This will definitely work well against all of that!

Check out the Cleanse Facial Cleanser – here!

Purity Moisturising Balm

This balm was just so-so for me.

It looks near identical to the Cleanse facial cleanser and even the foot balm, but it didn’t impress near as much.

I think it was a bit too balmy for my skin type.

It has a really lovely scent, which I am quite sure is due to the Calendula, Chamomile and Lavender in the formula, but other than the relaxing scent, it just left me with the sense that I have used other moisturizing balms that worked just as well or better for less money.

I think that someone with a drier skin type than mine would likely love this though because it is nourishing, protective and calming if you experience a lot of dryness and/or redness.

Check it out – here!

The last product sample I was able to try was the Nourish Face Oil.

This face oil has a nice consistency, goes on smoothly and absorbs into the skin easily without much oiliness left on the skin.

I used it before bed for around 6 days and didn’t see too much of a result.

I think this is nourishing, it did moisturize my skin well, but other than that, there weren’t many other effects to be observed.

This has a distinct plant scent to it, but it wasn’t overpowering or too strong, just noticeable.

I just feel that I can get similar results from the serums from Rainwater Botanicals (Check out a review on them- here!), which is much more affordable than this line.

I think I may have seen more effects with longer use, but this is about how long the sample lasted so I don’t really have a conclusive opinion on this one.
