Hi All!

Today’s post focuses on a really adorable and surprisingly effective line of vitamins from a UK brand – Inner Me – which offers various vitamin complexes in order to aid your health and beauty pursuits. I was so lucky to be sent a couple of their products for review and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed them overall. I love the functionality of the packaging – the capsules are enclosed in 2 sheets which you slide out of the packaging on opposite sides. It makes these so easy to travel with rather than lugging around vitamin bottles! I also really love the adorable female illustrations on each of the packets because it just makes taking vitamins so girly, feminine and appealing somehow. It certainly encouraged me to take my vitamins as I normally am quite horrible at remembering to take supplements!

Lustrous Locks

The first vitamin complex I tried in their line was the Lustrous Locks Vitamin Complex which is meant to aid your hair in looking it’s best in terms of fullness, shine, length and overall strength and vitality of your locks. Personally, I didn’t see a HUGE difference in my hair with these, but I did notice a lot less fallout in the shower and more shine than before so that’s a major plus for me! I have been dealing with fallout for awhile and so anything that has an effect is good in my books! I don’t know that it’s the best for hair growth as my hair seems to grow quite fast either way, but this is still a nice complex, in my opinion, and I love the packaging of these vitamins as it’s quite convenient to travel with and easy enough to take daily.

Beautify Me

The second complex I tried focused on overall beauty for the hair, skin and nails, but I especially noticed clearer skin and stronger nails when using this one. Perhaps it’s because they have a hair – focused complex that seemed to have more effect that I didn’t really notice the effects with this one, but anyway. I’d say this one works particularly well for skin and nails as that’s where I saw the most difference. I definitely saw less breakouts and longer, stronger nails. Again, I also really loved the packaging of these as I kept them in my handbag to remind myself to take them daily and the packaging is really practical for travel which I really love.

Vitamin D3

The last complex I tried was their Vitamin D3 complex for healthy teeth and bones. I tried this for about half the month and I honestly didn’t see a huge difference one way or the other so I passed them on to my boyfriend who already takes a vitamin D supplement in order to control his blood sugar and he claimed it really helped keep his sugar in great balance so that’s fantastic! I will say that, for me, I really like the fact that these tablets were quite small, the smallest of the 3 complexes I was sent, and it made them really easy to ingest. I think a huge part of why I have issues remembering to take supplements is because they so often look like huge tranquilizer pills and who wants to ingest that? So, I really like that these were easy to swallow and very small.

Today’s giveaway is a bit different than the others, though still really awesome!

Obviously today’s giveaway is for jewelry, but I think the items up for grabs are really lovely and I’ve thought to include them as the company offering them up is ran by my mom (and I occasionally help her out with blogging and the like ;-)).

She’s very kindly given me these 3 pieces from her Amazon shop for giveaway, but she carries loads of other items including ear cuffs, wraps, necklaces, earrings, and other unique items! The name, Bella Graciela, is named for both of my grandmothers and I think it rolls rather nicely off the tongue, don’t you?

Anyway, up for grabs is a cell phone dust plug which is an adorable rhinestone studded kitten, a porcelain ceramic guitar necklace which is both handmade and hand painted by students, and adorable fashion vintage style earrings!

I hope you’ll all sign up and, as always, you have 48 hours to do so!

Special thanks to my mom (Hi Mom!) & Bella Graciela for sponsoring this giveaway!

Zap Hide Blemish Concealer

I was recently sent the Jane Iredale Zap and Hide Blemish Concealer for review and I am so glad because this is certainly one of the best concealers I’ve ever tried and even better than most because it treats blemishes while concealing them!

First off, this mineral stick concealer is not irritating in the least. It doesn’t aggravate spots or cause more breakouts like many concealers I’ve tried. It is dual ended – one end is a treatment balm and the other end is the stick concealer. It is quite handy for on-the-go touch ups and I really love that the concealer is creamy and non-drying. My favorite part is that it’s non-drying and also seems to be healing my blemishes! Though it is creamy, it does stay in place for a good amount of time and it’s very versatile. I’ve used this concealer as just a blemish concealer, but I’ve recently been using it as a concealer to touch up all imperfections on my face and then setting everything with powder for a really light makeup look and I’m surprised by how naturally flawless my skin looks! I’m actually getting similar results with just using this concealer and a bit of Alima Pure powder foundation dusted of the top than I would using a liquid foundation which is pretty incredible to me! To apply this foundation, you first use the treatment balm end over blemishes and then tap the concealer end over the top of that and pat it into the skin to blend. It’s very easy to blend into the skin and it never looks cakey, ever. As a regular concealer on the face, I skip using the treatment balm and just use the concealer end which works really well. I don’t use this on my eyes as I find they need more hydration and so I opt instead for the Neutrogena Heathy Skin 3-in-1 Concealer  as I find it to be more hydrating.

The only think I’m not too keen on with this concealer is the fact that the treatment balm does not last very long. It melts on contact with skin and therefore seems to not last too long. I don’t know if I was just using way too much at first ( could be) or what, but it’s gone way down in comparison to the concealer end which lasts quite a bit. I’ve been using it over a month now and it still looks like I barely touched it and the treatment balm end looks half gone so use a light hand if you decide to purchase this one and want it to last. All in all, a seriously great blemish concealer and the best one I’ve found so far for those with sensitive, reactive, or acne prone skin types. This is definitely a must-have!

Liquid Minerals A Foundation

Hello Lovelies!

Today’s post centers on another liquid foundation I’ve been testing out for over a month now that I really love. You may remember my review on the Living Nature Foundation (If not, you can read the review – here) which I loved as well, but this foundation by Jane Iredale is a bit different, though nonetheless fantastic!

First off, if you’re unfamiliar with Jane Iredale, it is a natural beauty brand that offers a range of natural cosmetics that function as both makeup AND skincare. This is why they refer to their brand as “Skincare Makeup” because their products often have dual functionality for both aesthetics (looks) and the skin (anti-aging, anti-acne, etc.) effects that they claim come from wearing their cosmetics over an extended period of time. Their products are cruelty free and this foundation, in particular, is vegan and gluten free as well.

I was lucky enough to be sent this foundation with both their foundation brush and their Balance Hydrating Antioxidant Spray. The foundation brush is quite standard as far as brushes go. It’s a nice quality foundation brush, but for me, I prefer applying my foundation with a buffer brush or beautyblender type sponge so this didn’t get much use. I really dislike applying with this kind of brush and then having to smooth out the inevitable streaks so unfortunately, this brush didn’t get much use. Though I will say, if you enjoy using this kind of brush, the brush is a nice quality, there’s been absolutely no shedding at all, and it’s made of taklon nylon so it’s cruelty free and vegan.

Their Liquid Minerals A Foundation is very unique in that it is formulated with a calming base of aloe vera gel and vegetable glycerin which suspend liposomes (they look like little liquid capsules in the bottle) which encapsulate many active ingredients and serve to penetrate your skin and help it absorb all of the benefits of these ingredients most effectively.

So, when you use this foundation, you’re not only meant to have a great finish, but also skin benefits over time and through continued use. Their formula is calming, lightweight, and includes a number of beneficial ingredients such as sodium hyaluronate (hydration), oat extract (calms irritation, redness), willow bark extract (acne, balances skin sebum), and many other extracts which are said to work to improve your skin from the inside out while providing an outwardly beautiful look.

But do their claims live up when tested? Personally, I think so! Although the coverage isn’t full, it is a nice moderate to medium soft finish. Since it’s water based, it won’t irritate skin or clog pores and it has not made my skin break out at all. I did find it quite weird to use at first because the pigment capsules are suspended in aloe gel and when you first pump the liquid out, the first few pumps come out clear, but after the first time, it’s fine to apply and the liquid comes out in a fairly even consistency.

This formula does fill in pores, though it’s not mask-like or heavy at all. In fact, it feels like I’m not wearing anything at all. Strangely enough, I find this to be more like a complexion enhancer than anything, but it does dry down to a semi-matte type light to medium coverage despite not feeling like it’s heavy or cakey. The coverage is even more so when applied using their Smooth Affair Facial Primer & Brightener (You can see my review for that – here) and the staying power is much more polished with the primer than without.

I have been really enjoying using this foundation with their Balance Antioxidant Hydrating Spray as a setting spray – it gives a lovely dewy finish and I’m really loving that natural look this winter, especially because my skin can actually tolerate that look when it’s colder so I’m taking full advantage while I can!

I love the scent of this spray – it’s very natural, pleasant and light. There’s nothing at all overbearing about the scent like some other sprays / toners can sometimes be and it seems to be nicely hydrating without feeling oily or like there’s a residue on the skin so I love that for my skin.

Balance Antioxidant Hydration Spray

Overall, this is a really solid natural foundation! I love the idea of there being skincare benefits to wearing foundation, though I didn’t see a huge improvement in my skin that was seriously noticeable in the month and a half I’ve been using this. That being said, I love that their formulation is, for the most part, a very natural, gentle one that won’t irritate sensitive skin or clog pores for those with problem skin either. It doesn’t give a full coverage, but then, if you’re using natural, you can’t expect a hugely full coverage as it’s meant to accent your skin and even it out, but not cover it. The antioxidant spray was a nice addition to using this foundation – I highly recommend it for those who want that dewy natural finish. If not, this foundation dries down to a semi-matte or matte without it, depending on your skin type and what moisturizer you use. The foundation brush was good quality and build, but at $41, it’s not cheap and as someone who isn’t into that kind of brush, I’ll be passing it on to my sister who can get more use out of it than me.

Better You Natural Supplements for All Natural Health and Beauty!

I’m so excited to share these amazing supplements with you today!

I’ve been testing these out for more than a month now and I’m so happy with the results!

They come from Better You Supplements in UK and they are truly amazing in a wholesome and natural way!

Firstly, there’s the B12 Boost Spray (pictured above) which I have been carrying around in my purse for those moments when I need a pick-me-up during the day, which happens more often than I’m willing to admit. I just don’t get enough proper sleep these days and this Boost Spray has been a Godsend! Seriously, on the days when I’ve not gotten my full 8 hours of rest, I’ve been turning to this spray instead of coffee or tea and it’s worked wonders! It makes such a difference in my energy levels and the best part is that there’s no large amount of caffeine crashing involved because this lovely oral vitamin b12 spray gives your body the vitamins it needs as well as some green tea extract.

Plus, it tastes quite delicious to be honest so it’s been difficult not to spray some just because I enjoy the fruity deliciousness haha. So, no gross taste here; only a fruit delicious spray without any vitamin powder or gross supplemental aftertaste like some of these can have and I think it has something to do with the fact that they vitamins are naturally sourced and include green tea extract. The cost is very reasonable; it’s only £11.95 for 1 ($18.65 USD) and the price goes down if you purchase more than 1 at one time.

Next on the list is the Femergy Skin, Hair & Nails Multivitamin Complex. This super antioxidant mix of vitamins is rich in vitamins A, C and E, all of which are naturally sourced from organic plants including organic acerola cherries and pine bark extract so the benefits are more readily absorbed by the body.

Let me just say that this complex has made my hair shinier and longer. My boyfriend’s cousin is a hairstylist and even she commented on the rate at which my hair was growing. Aside from that, my skin has been clearer and softer and my nails have been stronger and longer than ever before. This stuff really works and I’m forever a fan of this one because not only does my body seem to love it, but it’s also vegetarian which I like my vitamins to be. They cost the same price as the Boost Spray – £11.95 for 1 ($18.65 USD) – and again, the price decreases when you purchase more than one at one time.

Lastly, I tried the Original Magnesium Oil Spray which is meant to help your sore muscles, joint health, stiffness and also oral health. I had never tried any kind of magnesium supplement until this one so I don’t have anything to compare it to, but what I will say is that this did help me with muscle soreness and has prevented muscle cramps that I often get in the middle of the night after I’ve gone running or done strength training. All you do is spray 6-10 sprays of this on your arm, neck, chest or any soft tissue area of the skin  (like breasts) and let it dry naturally. It smells a little off-putting, but once it dries, it completely goes away. You can also use this as an oral spray to improve oral health when you’re brushing your teeth, which I did. The taste is really not good haha, but I didn’t expect it to be so I was sort of prepared. It just tastes like super salt water and it feels like it’s heating up when you’re brushing with it, but what I love is that my teeth felt a lot cleaner and it seems to help pick up plaque from my teeth and cleaned my tongue really well (not to get too graphic about it). I am kind of anal about how I clean my teeth and I really like the magnesium oil spray for this purpose. You only new 1-3 sprays if you’re going to use if for this purpose, but it really does work. If you hate the taste like I did, mix it with some toothpaste or something to dilute it a little, don’t think about it just brush and then spit and rinse asap! It’s worth it! This one is marginally more expensive than the 2 above, but not by much. It costs £12.20 for 1 ($19.04 USD) and again, the price decreases with multiples purchases of these.

All in all, I loved these supplements. They really worked well for me; I definitely felt the effects and benefits of using them. I will definitely be purchasing these in the future. I absolutely love the fact that the supplements are naturally sourced and vegetarian and therefore less likely to incur side effects like other mainstream supplements can. I highly recommend these if you’re looking for natural supplements that won’t break the bank and that still work really well! A Special thanks to everyone at Better You for sending them to me for review!

Naruko Beauty Supplements!

More Naruko goodness!

If you’ve been following for awhile, you’ll have heard all about my love for Naruko Skincare. Otherwise, you can see an overview of the brand here and some reviews on their products here and here!

So yesterday, and you’ll know already if you’re following me on Instagram, I was at an actual Naruko Boutique in Rowland Heights, California, picking up night jellies and I stumbled across these skin supplement drinks they’ve come out with!  One is meant to be taken during the day while the other is meant to be taken at night before bed.

Of course I had to try them!

They are both skin supplement drinks that focus on repairing the skin and encouraging collagen production, but the daytime version focuses on brightening the skin while the nighttime version works to firm the skin while you catch some beauty sleep.  The day one is the Berry Brightening Collagen Drink – Day and the night one is the Lychee Firming Collagen Drink – Night.

I tried the night one last night because, like an overexcited 5 year old, I just couldn’t wait and then I tried the day one this morning.

Firstly, I have to say that the sales rep completely lied on these or she has heinously bad taste. When I asked her what they taste like, she just told me they taste great. Mind you, I’d try them anyway with hopes of boosting collagen, glow and firming my skin up, but these taste like crap. I mean, it may just be personal preference because these remind me of what energy drinks taste like except much more potent and I hate the taste of energy drinks. The taste makes me feel like I’m drinking healthy gasoline because the taste seriously smacks you in the face. It is NOT subtle!

That being said, I think I may invest in a few of these.

I know, I sound kind of like a masochist given I’ve just compared the taste to drinking gasoline, but the vitamins in these are beneficial to skin health and overall bodily health actually.

The day version includes a variety of vitamins, minerals, fruit extracts and brightening plant extracts while the night version includes a similar variety of vitamins, minerals, and berries along with CoQ10 and other plant extracts known to firm and tone the skin.

No real effects seem to be showing up just yet as I’ve only tried them in the past 24 hours, but I do sense a glow in my skin, though that may be due to the 100+ F degree weather we’ve been suffering through here in Cali.

All in all, I still think I’ll try these again as I’m a fan of natural supplements, especially where vanity and skin health is concerned (yeah, I’m shallow like that, problem?). Plus, in the end, I think I’m just like most everyone else when it comes to these miracle drinks – easily pulled in by the promise of eternal youth in a bottle. Then again, maybe I’m alone in this, but at $5 a bottle, it’s not hugely expensive to try a week’s supply and see if I feel, or look, any different. That being said, I think these must be very new because I cannot find them on the Naruko USA website. They only seem to be available in Asia at the moment so I don’t know how they were available at the Naruko Boutique, but if you’d like to try them, you can find a pack of this day + night supplement combo here!

What do you think of beauty supplements?

Are they too gimmicky or have you seen any effects from taking supplements like this?
