Activaroma Pure Argan Oil

I was recently sent a small sample of this Pure Argan Oil from Activaroma by The Beauty Box and have really loved using it.

If you’re unfamiliar with argan oil, it’s an oil that comes from the nuts of the argan trees found in Morocco. What marks argan oil as unique from some other various plant oils is the fact that argan has an especially high content of vitamin E and essential fatty acids which are critical for restoring dryness and damage in skin.

Activaroma says that this oil will diminish fine lines and wrinkles, heal spots and blemishes, stretch marks and scars, and restore strength to brittle hair and nails.

I’ve been using this in various ways for about a month and I really do like this oil. The sample I received was pretty small so I haven’t experimented with it on my body or hair as there was not really enough oil to go around, but on my face and nails, this was lovely.

It is very hydrating to the skin while also feeling light and definitely helps combat dryness and dull skin. I really felt like it made my skin look more dewy, glowy and just overall more healthy in condition. I have combination acne prone skin, but this didn’t irritate or break me out – actually I’m convinced it’s helped my breakouts heal more quickly. It smooths the skin’s texture and seems to make scars lessen, though I’m not sure if it would make them diminish completely as I’ve run out of oil. As for my nails, this oil is fantastic for dry cuticles and nails and really does seem to strengthen them.

The full size bottle of this oil comes in a 2 ounce glass bottle which looks pretty luxurious – much like a classy bottle of perfume. I would really enjoy putting it on display as the packaging is really lovely. My only complaints about this oil are that the oil isn’t organic and there’s no note on the sustainability of how it was sourced or grown which I personally like to know about. Also, it’s pretty steep at $55 for 2 ounces of argan oil, but the quality and effectiveness is certainly there so if the price and origin of the product don’t bother you, I say go for it because it’s absolutely a quality product.

Check it out on The Beauty Box – here.

May Lindstrom – The Good Stuff Radiance Oil

I recently review May Lindstrom’s The Good Stuff Radiance Oil and really have loved it so much I’m likely to purchase it once I run out of it because it’s so lovely. Aside from it’s naturally nourishing ingredients, it includes golden mica in the formula which lends a golden glow to my skin whenever I apply it. I really love the mini faux glow it gives my skin because I don’t have to sit 5 hours waiting for it to develop like I would with a self tanner. Granted, I don’t get a deep tan with this, but it’s a nice and simple way to get glowing Summer type skin without putting too much effort in and the ingredients in this all over Liquid Sunshine Oil looks great on my face and body.

I really enjoy wearing it when I don’t feel like wearing any makeup, but still want to look somewhat put together because it gives my skin a golden glow and dewy healthy look that allows my skin to shine through and look beautiful while doing it.  You still need a sunscreen when you go out as this doesn’t include SPF other than what’s naturally in plant oils ( no higher than SPF 5, if that ) , but it looks great by itself on makeup free days or beach days for that added golden glow on any skin tone or type.

You can see my original review on The Good Stuff Radiance Oil – here.

You can purchase it from May Lindstrom – here.

Hi Loves!

I hope you’re all having a fantastic weekend and enjoying your time off ( if you have it ).

I’ve had a busy week and I’m enjoying getting back on track with my workouts, healthy eating and all that jazz. I had quite a difficult time this past week waking up at my usual 4 AM to work out at the gym for some reason so I took it pretty easy and only worked out 3 times at the gym during the week and once at home doing a bit of strength training (squats, lunges, etc.). I’ll be going all weekend to get my workouts in and make up for the times I missed during the week and try to get back on track with that by Monday.

As for healthy eating, I’ve done pretty well except for a few days this week where I had 2 cheat meals and caved and bought some white bread ( had 1 slice ) and peanut M&Ms (why are they SO delicious?!). Other than that, I’ve been on a good track with eating.

That aside, I’ve received some beauty stuff this week for review and I’ve been doing a lot of reading. I just finished reading the Host by Stephenie Meyer which is surprisingly really good – highly recommend it if you like Sci-fi! Now I’m onto Beautiful Creatures since I recently saw the film (based on the book) and loved it so much I felt the need to read the novel it’s been adapted from. Highly recommend the film Beautiful Creatures, if you haven’t seen it yet, and also Warm Bodies (a Zombie love story?) – both were really entertaining! If you haven’t heard of any of these, I’ll give you quick rundowns below:

Beautiful Creatures: It’s basically about witches, only they refer to themselves as Casters and it takes place in the South USA. Lena Duchannes is the new girl in Gatlin while Ethan Wates has lived there his entire life. Ethan longs to escape from Gatlin when he meets mysterious Lena. Together, they discover much about their ancestors, their history, and the seemingly normal Southern town of Gatlin.

Warm Bodies: Essentially, Warm Bodies is about a boy zombie who falls in love with a human girl. I don’t want to give too much away, but it’s really funny and cute!

The Host ( book not film ) : The film looks pretty accurate to the book, but it’s not out yet so I can’t say for sure. The book by itself is really good! The plot is that earth has been overtaken by aliens who are basically parasites because they inhabit our human bodies and erase our minds. Wanderer inhabits Melanie, a young human female, but finds that Melanie is still there in her mind when she does and she can’t get her to go away. It’s such a fascinating story about humanity, the nature of kindness, battle for species’ survival and the goodness of souls universally.

I received this line of Less Is More Organic Hair Care as well which I’m excited to try out soon!  They included Lindengloss Shampoo & Conditioner, Flower Whip Curl and Frizz Lotion & LimeSouffle Styling Cream. Everything smells lovely!

Lastly, I picked up some new running shoes because my Nike shoes were getting a bit worn down and starting to feel off which was making my knees hurt. These are Reebok Realflex Scream 2.0 running shoes and they are SUPER comfortable! I love how they fit my feet like a glove and the cushioning feels like I’m walking on a firm mattress. They’re super supportive of my arches and I can’t wait to run in them! I can do a full review of these, if you like, so let me know if you want one in the comments!

How Was Your Week?

Hi All!

Today’s post focuses on a really adorable and surprisingly effective line of vitamins from a UK brand – Inner Me – which offers various vitamin complexes in order to aid your health and beauty pursuits. I was so lucky to be sent a couple of their products for review and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed them overall. I love the functionality of the packaging – the capsules are enclosed in 2 sheets which you slide out of the packaging on opposite sides. It makes these so easy to travel with rather than lugging around vitamin bottles! I also really love the adorable female illustrations on each of the packets because it just makes taking vitamins so girly, feminine and appealing somehow. It certainly encouraged me to take my vitamins as I normally am quite horrible at remembering to take supplements!

Lustrous Locks

The first vitamin complex I tried in their line was the Lustrous Locks Vitamin Complex which is meant to aid your hair in looking it’s best in terms of fullness, shine, length and overall strength and vitality of your locks. Personally, I didn’t see a HUGE difference in my hair with these, but I did notice a lot less fallout in the shower and more shine than before so that’s a major plus for me! I have been dealing with fallout for awhile and so anything that has an effect is good in my books! I don’t know that it’s the best for hair growth as my hair seems to grow quite fast either way, but this is still a nice complex, in my opinion, and I love the packaging of these vitamins as it’s quite convenient to travel with and easy enough to take daily.

Beautify Me

The second complex I tried focused on overall beauty for the hair, skin and nails, but I especially noticed clearer skin and stronger nails when using this one. Perhaps it’s because they have a hair – focused complex that seemed to have more effect that I didn’t really notice the effects with this one, but anyway. I’d say this one works particularly well for skin and nails as that’s where I saw the most difference. I definitely saw less breakouts and longer, stronger nails. Again, I also really loved the packaging of these as I kept them in my handbag to remind myself to take them daily and the packaging is really practical for travel which I really love.

Vitamin D3

The last complex I tried was their Vitamin D3 complex for healthy teeth and bones. I tried this for about half the month and I honestly didn’t see a huge difference one way or the other so I passed them on to my boyfriend who already takes a vitamin D supplement in order to control his blood sugar and he claimed it really helped keep his sugar in great balance so that’s fantastic! I will say that, for me, I really like the fact that these tablets were quite small, the smallest of the 3 complexes I was sent, and it made them really easy to ingest. I think a huge part of why I have issues remembering to take supplements is because they so often look like huge tranquilizer pills and who wants to ingest that? So, I really like that these were easy to swallow and very small.

You can check out the entire line of Inner Me Beauty Supplements – here.

    Happy Friday Everyone!

I hope you’ve all had a great week and look forward to a nice, relaxing weekend!

I know I personally need some R&R after this week. It felt like it was especially long for some reason – anyone else feel like this week felt like forever? Maybe it’s just me.

Anyway, here’s a bit of what I was up to this week!

On Sunday, I finally washed my makeup brushes. Not that I’ve never washed my brushes before – I do – it’s just that it had been awhile (like a week or 2) since I had done it so it had to be done. I use these brush guards from Coastal Scents for my larger brushes to keep the bristles in shape and clean. To clean all my brushes, I just use an organic hand soap with lukewarm water. I’ve been using one that I recently picked up at Target from Boots, but you can also use baby soap and that works nicely as well. What do you guys do to clean your brushes?

I’ve also been spending lots of time with my dog Yoshi!

He’s a Brussels Griffon and he is the best! No, literally. Yoshi means “great” in Japanese (according to my boyfriend – don’t quote ME on it. Lol). Anyway, I love him to death and he’s the weirdest dog ever – he’s afraid of everything pretty much, he’s currently obsessed with sleeping all the time on my bed, and he hates carbs, but loves chocolate and meat so I think he might have an eating disorder. Just kidding. He’s just a bit strange, but adorable in that old man way nonetheless! Do you have pets?

I picked this water bottle / tea canteen thing up at Target last week and it’s been AWESOME. It keeps hot tea hot for hours so I advise those who pick one up to avoid putting scalding water in it for their tea or coffee or whichever because it will stay scalding hot for like 2 hours. Anyway, on the bright side, it keeps cold water cold for hours as well so it’s very handy! I find I definitely meet my water quota more often now with this! Anyone have something similar to this?

The other day, I received the Problem Solver Face Mask & a tiny sample of the Youth Dew in the mail from May Lindstrom and OMG THIS MASK WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE. I will post on it more officially when I’ve tested it a bit further, but holy crap!  – THIS WORKS. The Youth Dew is perfectly paired with the mask for use after, but I’d like to do more testing before I comment on it too much.

I think this face mask might actually dethrone the Liquid Gold Mask from Alpha-H and I don’t say that lightly! It smells like chocolate and vanilla and herbs or something and it feels like a hot stone massage on your face. Like you can really feel it heat up. It’s actually kind of uncomfortable, but the results are SO worth it.

Even my oblivious boyfriend (who made fun of me while I was wearing this mask and couldn’t move my face LOL) had a moment of “Oh wow, your skin does look amazing” when I rinsed it off. Also, I adore the little stone pot that comes with this mask ( mask comes in a powder form and needs to be mixed with water). It’s quite heavy and very good quality. Anyway, I think I’m in love with this! *Swoon!* Yes, I swoon over beauty products and what? Have any of you tried May Lindstrom Skincare before?

I also received a small sample of the Blooming Bath Oil from Max Green Alchemy and this stuff smells JUST like their Skin Rescue Cream ( see my review on that – here ) so I immediately loved it, but the bath experience is another thing entirely! I am surprised this oil actually dissolves in bath water ( unlike most bath oils which just sit awkwardly on the surface). I’ll do a full review on this one soon as well!

I also picked these up from Target the other day as well. I’ve never tried Shea Moisture before, but  it seems quite nice so far! I enjoy the texture of both of these, but will do further testing before I post on my thoughts. Anyone tried Shea Moisture before?

I just received this in the mail yesterday from Acure and I’m SO excited to try it out ! My hair definitely needs some TLC in this cold weather! Have any of you ever tried the Acure Organics hair care?

This is a photo I took yesterday late afternoon. Isn’t it lovely?! I was surprised at the picturesque moment as it was FREEZING outside, but everything looked beautiful anyway!

Here’s to wishing you all a great weekend!

How was everyone’s week?

Do you have any plans for the weekend?

RomanceBlogTag-StorybookApothecary.Com

I’ve seen tons of blogger tags and I love doing them personally, but I thought it’d be fun if I made my own up this time because there are a number of questions that I want answered by bloggers which I think are interesting to read, fun to answer and you know, I’m a nosy person who enjoys poking into others’ personal business so, you know.

The theme for this tag is romance and it may not be what you imagine, but I think it’s appropriate for bloggers because, let’s face it, we’re all romantics here otherwise we would not be writers. So, don’t go thinking this post will delve into your personal life (too deeply ;-)) because it’s more about romantic things, likes, dislikes, and all that jazz than it is about people, though feel free to mention those, too, if you like!

There are really no rules or anything other than please link back to this original post in your post if you do this tag on your blog, just answer the questions and pass it on by tagging others at the end of your post! Oh! And please, for God’s sake, enjoy yourself!

  1. What is your favorite romance film and why? My favorite romance film is Pride and Prejudice. Actually my favorite romance novel is also Pride & Prejudice. I absolutely LOVE Elizabeth Bennett’s character.
  2. Which character from a film or book is your ideal and why? Definitely Mr. Darcy. He’s just so perfectly imperfect. I hate when a man looks too perfect or clean cut. I love that he has flaws because it makes him more human.
  3. Your idea love life in a song – go! Regretting creating this question because now I’m stumped. Uhmm. Honestly, I love film scores so it’s likely that it’s some instrumental on piano or something. Or maybe “The Only Exception” by Paramore or “Shh” by Imogen Heap.
  4. Song that makes you cry your eyes out for seemingly no reason at all… Not cry my eyes out, but it’s sad is “Someone Like You” or “Take It All” by Adele. Every time she starts talking about not looking back on “this crumbling fool” – oh dear, I’m getting teary eyed just thinking of it! Also, “Breathe” or “My Love” by Sia. Man, all of Sia’s songs are sad (ok so pre 2010 they are all sad).
  5. Film guaranteed to make you cry every time… I cry in a LOT of films because I’m a total sap, but I always cry in Titanic (yes I’m lame AND proud of it). Although it’s not a romance film really, I also cry EVERY SINGLE TIME in the beginning of Deathly Hallows part 1 when Hermione has to erase her parents’ memories. That’s the only scene in the films that wasn’t in the books that was incredible and depressing to see.
  6. What is your favorite color for romantic makeup looks? Any kind of rose pinks like satiny matte pink rose colors that make you look flushed.
  7. Favorite hair style for a soft, romantic look? I really love 1920’s finger waves and simple low buns with curls hanging out. Or french braids. Hmm…
  8. Which female heroine do you most identify with, either from a book or movie? Elizabeth Bennett. I love that she’s so intelligent, witty and not afraid to fight for what she wants despite being from a period in time where women had little to no rights at all. She has guts.
  9. Your ideal romance life exists in which time period? Hmm Victorian times probably. I love corsets which makes me sound like I enjoy torture, but whatever.
  10. What are you wearing in this hypothetical romance? I love this dress, but I hate the hair LOL. So that dress with different hair!

So, yes, I know they are silly questions, but I find them highly entertaining and for some reason, I spend a great deal thinking about which heroine I most identify with in films and books that I love and which time period I should’ve been born in.

I tag all of you to either answer the questions on your blog (if you have one!) or in the comments below as I’d love to read your answers!

Today’s post focuses on all the amazing DIY pins I’ve discovered on Pinterest. There really are some awesome things to be discovered on Pinterest – definitely join if you haven’t already! DIY Bracelet From animatedknots.com via Pinterest

I’m not much for crocheting or sewing or anything that requires a lot of patience (a virtue I was not gifted with) really, but I actually love this bracelet and plan on making one (or several) for myself! It seems pretty easy.

I really want to do this one as hair products can be pretty expensive, but I’m concerned about it being color safe. Again, if anyone has advice on this front!

DIY Re-Vamped Flats From makeit-loveit.com via Pinterest

I really love this tutorial for re-vamping flats as I’m someone who tends to scuff up perfectly good flats in a month’s time. Yeah, I’m shoe-abusive and I tend to get bored easily so this is a fun way to change with the trends without going broke.

Not sure if this actually works on nails, but I’ll try it soon and let you know!

never buy white strips again!: dip q-tip in hydrogen peroxide (the key ingredient in whitestrips) and apply to surface of teeth for 30 sec before brushing teeth) once a day for a few days. Teeth will look whiter in 2 days.

DIY Whiten Your Teeth via Pinterest

I haven’t tried this one yet, but I’m seriously going to pick up some hydrogen peroxide so I can test it out. Basically, you dip a Q-tip into some hydrogen peroxide and polish each tooth before brushing your teeth. Wait 30 minutes with the peroxide on your teeth before brushing regularly. People say there’s a huge difference when you do it for one week straight and it’s certainly cheaper and more eco than Crest white strips, right?

DIY Blackhead Treatment From stylebees.com via Pinterest

I haven’t tried this one yet, but I’m curious to see how it will work. May try this one tonight as I finally picked up some lemons. Anyone tried this yet?

DIY Eyelash Growth Treatment From fashionindie.com via Pinterest

I have seriously long lashes (Italians are hairy okay), but since I decided to get tweezer happy as a teen, my brows grow in bizarrely and don’t grow in at all in some places so I may try this one out on my brows.

DIY Nail Dots Pinned from Pinterest for iPhone via Pinterest

As I’ve said, I’m nail – inferior, but the idea of making dots on my nails sounds like fun. I’m like a kid banging on a piano – I can’t actually play the damn thing, but I can pretend.

At-Home Spa Treatments From lulus.com via Pinterest

I looove to do DIY facials in the winter for some reason. I don’t know if that’s because I’m in somewhat hibernation and leave my house less or what, but it’s fun and these are pretty easy to make. I’ve done all of these except the bath one and the anti-redness facial. Though, lately, I am getting a lot of redness (I’ve run out of my Suti Cleansing Balm & Moisturizer! 😦 ) due to the weather changes so I may try the anti-redness one soon.

Map Nails via Pinterest [Not sure of source – if someone knows, please let me know so I can update this!] – You can get a tutorial for this here though > http://polishpedia.com/map-nails.html

This seems like a fun alternative to painting my nails and it looks cool too!

DIY Sock Bun From beautylish.com via Pinterest

I’m trying this one tonight as I haven’t had the heart to mutilate any of my socks until now, but this one seems too good to pass up and certainly more gentle than constantly putting my hair in a bun the normal way. Maybe.

Pinned Image

Romantic French Braid Tutorial From abeautifulmess.typepad.com via Pinterest

I may try this come Thanksgiving. I really love the look! It’s so simple, but very romantic and it’s cold out and about that time when I get super sentimental and pull out my Pride & Prejudice and start quoting about “how ardently I admire and love you..” and my boyfriend looks at me like, WTH did you just say? with his eyebrow raised. Yes, it happens.

ANYWAY!

Hope you’re all enjoying your weekend so far ❤
