Nuxe Aroma Perfection Masque Unclogging Thermo Actif Face Mask

I was super excited when The Beauty Box sent me this awesome face mask by Nuxe Skincare as I’d never tried a Nuxe product before, but I’d heard loads of good things around many of the blogs that I follow.

First off, if you’re unfamiliar with Nuxe Skincare, they are a higher end skincare company that offer tons of beauty products, especially skincare, and often feature many botanical ingredients in their product formulations.

This face mask – the Aroma Perfection Unclogging Thermo Actif Mask – includes a variety of skin beneficial ingredients such as kaolin clay, rice powder, various plant extracts, hyaluronic acid, and various natural acids to help slough off dead skin cells and reveal healthier, clearer and more even toned skin that is hydrated and radiant.

The mask itself feels really gooey, but has a sandy like texture that feels a lot more like a scrub than a face mask. When applied to skin, it immediately warms up so you definitely feel the “thermo actif” bit they mention in the name. It doesn’t burn or anything – it just feels quite warm. It’s meant to be massaged into the skin gentle for about a minute or so and then left on for 2-3 minutes before rinsing it off.

I really love that this feels like a face scrub and mask in one and the heating bit is really a nice touch that makes you feel like the mask is “working,” but the effects speak for themselves. After using this, my skin felt soft, hydrated, calm and clear, and more even toned. This is a fantastic face mask to use if you are short on time, but want to get the quick results that more time consuming face masks will give you because this does it in less time.  Another great thing about this mask is that it’s one of the more affordably priced items from Nuxe so you don’t have to break the bank to get hold of one. It’s a simple way to exfoliate and treat your skin all at once and I definitely recommend it.

You can check it out on The Beauty Box – here.

  • Alpha-H Liquid Smoothing & Perfecting Face Mask.  This one has been a real life saver! My skin has been all over the place since the weather started to change and this mask has kept breakouts in check and helped smooth out patchiness, brighten dullness and just wake my skin up. It’s a great pick-me-up mask and it has the great tingling effects with the results to back it up! Highly recommend this one!
  • Living Nature Foundation. I’ve really been loving this foundation as it has a lot of healing ingredients in the formula including harakeke flax gel and manuka which are said to heal, hydrate and rejuvenate the skin and I really can attest to these effects! Although the coverage is not full, it has a general light to medium that’s buildable and really seems to even out the skin without covering it up. I love that it lets my skin breath and doesn’t break me out. Plus, it’s nicely hydrating and looks even more polished when used with the Jane Iredale Smooth Affair Primer.
  • Jane Iredale Smooth Affair Facial Primer and Brightener. This primer is so great! Although I covet my Korres primer because it is silicone free and I’ve had something of a phobia when it comes to silicone primers given how often they seem to make me breakout, I really love this one and it does not make me break out so that is fantastic! Instead, it gives that fantastic poreless finish we all associate with silicone primers with none of the typical irritation associated with them. Normally, in the past I’ve felt like, well I’d like the poreless look today so let me use this crap primer and pray my skin doesn’t react in the five hours I’m wearing it and I’d usually break out. But with this primer, I don’t have to worry because I never break out! It makes my skin look great and gives the natural foundations ( like the Living Nature or Jane Iredale ones) a fuller coverage that still looks natural, though a bit more finished.
  • The Leakey Collection Marula Oil. This has been such a great oil for hydrating my skin! I love that it’s just pure marula oil and that it’s a product I can really stand behind in terms of ethics and things. The oil itself feels so silky and yet it absorbs almost instantly into the skin and no residue. This is something I would absolutely repurchase though I’d need to save up a bit as it’s a little bit of a splurge!
  • Suti Skincare Cleanse Organic Balm. Last on the list, but nonetheless amazing! If you follow then you’ll have somewhat of an idea of the extent of my little obsession with Suti products. They just have such greatly formulated products and these products actually work! Some natural products are all natural and then their formulas suck despite their fantastic ingredient list, but these are so effective! I love this cleanse balm for any time, all the time. It just seems to really straighten my skin out when it’s going haywire for no reason and that’s whether it’s summer, winter, whatever. This. Just. Works. Try it. It’s amazing and it will nourish and smooth your skin in a beautiful way.

So, that’s it for my November favorites!

What are you loving this winter season to keep your skin in great shape or get the perfect fall makeup look?

I’m soo happy to share this awesome face mask with you today!

I’ve been wanting to try it for ages and only recently did I get my hands on one to test out.

First off, I just want to say I think those with super sensitive skin should steer clear of this one. It’s pretty intense as a skin treatment mask, but if you can hack it, it’s a seriously great face mask that will give you the results you want in very little time.

I find it seems especially effective for me now and that may be because, in winter, my skin is drier and has a tendency towards dullness, but this is just the perfect pick-me-up my skin needs to look it’s best!

Formulated with 15% glycolic acid, rose and lavender oils, honey, and wheatgerm oil, this face mask works quickly to slough off dead skin cells, encourage cell turnover, and infuse the skin with antioxidants and hydration all at once.

I love how super effective this mask is without taking too much of my day away.

All you do is apply a thin layer over the face and neck area, leave on for no longer than 10 minutes, and rinse off with warm water.

You definitely get the sense that this mask is working while you wear it as it has the awesome tingling factor, but it also shows an immediate difference when you rinse the mask off as well.

It’s important to mention that you really only need to use this mask once a week. It’s that potent of a treatment that any more might be too much for your skin and cause irritation instead of good. That’s not because the mask is harmful, it’s just very concentrated so use it sparingly and wisely.

Although this mask is pretty pricey, it’s well worth it in the results it gives you, in my opinion.

You can find it on Alpha-H.com or otherwise, Beauty Bay carries Alpha-H products as well and always has great deals and offers free worldwide shipping!

Find it on Beauty Bay – here.

What’s your favorite face mask for bright, clear skin?

You may have read my last post on Adovia’s Dead Sea Mud Face Mask (if you missed it, you can see it – here). This is another awesome natural product from Cleopatra’s Choice made by Adovia Skin Care!

Formulated with palm kernel oil, dead sea mud and lemongrass EO, this soap is super gentle and smells just like lemon! I love the citrus smell; it seems to be helping me wake up in the morning. Also, I have a very short list of hard soaps that I will even let touch my body and this one makes the list! As you may have read (if you’ve been following long, if not welcome!), I have super sensitive and dry body skin. I have a hard time finding body washes that won’t dry out my skin let alone even trying bar soaps, but this one is a keeper. Not only is it super detoxing and cleansing, but it’s not drying at all. It’s gentle, smells lovely, and cleanses without giving me that horrible dry dove bar soap feel ( think dry, ashy, and tight). This is a really great bar soap that I highly recommend for those battling body acne, who get super oily or sweaty, those battling body odor, or those suffering from eczema or psoriasis. This is so gentle and soothing. They also say you can use this on your face, but I haven’t given my paranoia of bar soaps (maybe I’ll try it in the future when I’m feeling brave LOL). My boyfriend has super oily skin though and he tried it and liked it quite a bit. Overall, I’m really pleased with this bar soap. Pleasantly surprising and really simply, but well formulated, this is one of the few bar soaps I actually truly like.

This mud mask was sent to me from Cleopatra’s Choice  and I’m pretty pleased with it.

It includes lots of dead sea minerals and mud to help purify and detox the pores without drying while the minerals feed your skin essential nutrients. Their formula also includes aloe vera gel, papaya and chamomile extracts and loads of natural plant oils. Their ingredient list isn’t organic, but as far as natural goes, this one has a great ingredient list chock full of natural ingredients to feed your skin. I really love this mask for breakout days! It’s super effective at clearing skin from breakouts, bacteria, oiliness, and dirt and other debris. Plus, it has that earthy smell which I find really relaxing. This tube is really filled to the brim as well because I’ve used it for about a month now and it still feels super full. I love that this helps to clear blemishes because I’ve used at as an all over face mask and a spot treatment to great effect. It helps clear breakouts and shrinks the size of the significantly within 24 hours which I find pretty impressive! I highly recommend this one to anyone who has ever had to battle breakouts, especially those with combination and oily skin types. It really works nicely.

Get Clear, Soft Skin with WEI Beauty’s Purify-Chi Golden Root Purifying Mud Mask!

I’ve been wanting to try this seriously beautiful face mask kit from WEI Beauty ever since I saw the review for it on AModelRecommends. Naturally, I was thrilled when WEI Beauty agreed to send me one of these for review!

If you’re unfamiliar, WEI Beauty offers a variety of herbal beauty products that encompass the ideals of traditional Chinese medicine in order to bring balance, beauty and grace to your skin.

The packaging of this is amazing; it really brings a whole other level to beauty when you feel like it’s not just a product, it’s an experience. With this one, that really holds true.

The kit itself comes with 8 little pots filled with the face mask formula and a surprisingly soft facial brush used to apply the mask. As someone who loves calligraphy and art and painting, this was quite a treat! It really makes putting on a face mask feel really elegant and refined as opposed to my usual slap on face mask, rinse, moisturize, etc. which isn’t that graceful.

Not only is applying this mask lovely, but there is quite a bit of product in one pot. I originally thought it would be a small amount, but I really layered the mask on when I used it the first time and I was still able to use that same pot 2 more times before having to open another one.

Another reason I really love this brand of beauty products is that they have several lines within their collection which have different purposes based on ancient Chinese beliefs: Purify-Chi, Energize-Yang, Replenish-Yin, and Correct-Zen. Each of these are aimed at a specific skin concern and all the products in that line follow the same concern accordingly.

I love when beauty products include a mind and body connection because we are more than just our appearances. For every outward issue, there is an internal concern and I truly believe that we need to cover all bases to be in great health and balance within and without.

This face mask is meant for normal, normal – oily , and normal – dry skin types. It’s very “purifying” as they say so you definitely need to use a moisturizer directly after this, but it’s a great skin cleanser and an awesome skin detox mask for me when I’ve broken out or want to get an extra deep cleanse in for my pores after exfoliating.

The Purify-Chi Golden Root Purifying Mud Mask retails at $42 USD.

It looks like WEI Beauty only ships to USA at this time, but if you’re in UK, check them out at SpaceNK. Aussie beauties can check them out at MECCA.

Everyone else, please contact me in the comments if you need help finding them and I’ll do what I can to help!

My Old Blog Posts: DIY Green Eco Beauty Face Masks

A few years ago, I attempted to start a blog called Beauty, Culture, World.

Long story short, it was pretty convoluted and not at all focused on any one topic.

It ended up being more of a random post blogs place for whatever was on my mind at the time and I eventually abandoned it…unfortunately 😦

FORTUNATELY (yay!), I was able to start this blog up recently and I’m super happy to say that this blog has kicked off to a much better start than that one.

That being said, I still had a lot of good posts on there that I think would be relevant to this blog and you may enjoy reading.

So, with that, here is an old post that I still think is pretty fun and informative for green beauty lovers.

More to come, but for now, enjoy!

DIY Green Eco Beauty Face Masks

I’ve had quite a passion for DIY beauty the past 2 years because it’s tons of fun, easy and quick, and much better for the environment than buying another product. Not to mention the fact that I already own way too many beauty products and have literally no more room (in my bathroom or budget) for even one more product. That being said, DIY beauty saves have offered me some of the quickest ways to cure that breakout, exfoliate your skin, brighten your skin tone and more.

Here are some of my favorite DIY Recipes:

  • Aspirin Acne Mask: Use 2-5 Uncoated Aspirin Tablets or Raw Willow Bark Powder mixed with your choice of water, witch hazel, vodka, milk, sake or champagne. Water is gentle, witch hazel helps absorb oil, vodka is astringent, sake brightens and lightens skin tone, milk exfoliates with lactic acids, and champagne brightens and feels luxurious while toning skin.
  • Raw Pumpkin Enzyme Facial Peel: Apply raw pumpkin in a thin layer over skin. Leave on for 5-10 minutes, depending on your sensitivity level. It feels just like a facial enzyme peel you would get at a spa only a little gentler given that it’s raw and natural. You can purchase raw pumpkin in a can at your local grocery store or, if pumpkin is in season, you may mash pumpkin yourself. You may also add a carrier oil (sweet almond, olive oil, coconut oil, etc.) to dilute to active enzymes if you have very sensitive skin. Note: if going outside, rinse and apply sunblock.
  • Oatmeal Detox Face Mask: Mix equal parts oatmeal and honey (usually 1-2 tablespoons of each is enough) and apply. Leave on 15 minutes then rinse. Oatmeal absorbs oil and dirt while honey moisturizes and disinfects. Do this in the kitchen as oatmeal tends to flake off and get everywhere. It’s quite messy, but worth it!
  • Moisturizing Avocado Hair and Face Mask: Mix 1 avocado with your choice of milk, sake, natural oil (coconut or olive oil work well), or champagne. Leave on 15 minutes then rinse. If you are using by itself or with a natural oil, this can also double as a hair mask
  • Milk Toner: Use a small amount of milk on a cotton round and apply to face directly. Leave on until you feel it dry then rinse or leave on for continued exfoliation and brightening. Note: if going outside, rinse and apply sunblock.
  • Vodka, Sake or Champagne Toner: Use alone on a cotton round and apply to face as you would a normal toner. No need to rinse these. Vodka brightens and tones, sake brightens and whitens skin tone and champagne tones, brightens and firms skin.
  • Egg White Face Mask: Use the egg whites of 1 raw egg and apply a thin layer to your face, avoiding eye area. Leave on 10-15 minutes or until dry then either peel off or rinse off. This mask works to tighten and firm skin.
  • Natural Oils Hair Mask: Choose one or three natural oils in combination in any amount as needed and apply to hair. Leave on as desired or for 15-30 minutes then rinse. Be sure to shampoo after. This adds moisture, shine and gloss to hair.
