Hi lovelies!

I’m back with another Best of 2012 post (there are only 2 left!) and today’s post focuses on my 2 favorite facial exfoliators – one is more on the natural side than the other – both are VERY effective at exfoliating the skin so I hope this helps those of you looking for a nice facial exfoliant!

The first one may not be a surprise to most of you as I have raved and raved about Alpha-H’s Liquid Gold for awhile now and it is absolutely worth the hype! When you use this one properly, it really does reveal brighter, clearer, more beautiful skin over time. It’s unique in the way that you use it because it comes out like a watery toner consistency which you apply with a cotton pad after you’ve cleansed your skin. Then, you don’t apply anything else – just this – and leave it on overnight. So, no lotion or serum or anything except some eye cream, if you like, and the next day, your skin will look much improved! I was so excited the first time I used it because I didn’t know if I’d see the results so quickly or not and was scared of being disappointed, but it definitely didn’t let me down! I even think this has helped diminish some minor acne scars I have on my cheeks as well. The only hitch with this product is I recommend that it be used after you’ve really deeply cleansed your skin (or double cleansed) so that it can really penetrate deeply. If not, I notice that on nights when I’ve used it and been lazy with my cleansing, I can see it doesn’t make as much of a difference to my skin as it would if I cleansed properly so that’s important and secondly, this is NOT for sensitive skin types. I can be sensitive at times and I don’t use this when I am. If you react easily with products, I don’t recommend this one. For exfoliation on sensitive skin, I recommend using a muslin cloth with a nourishing cleanser like the Living Nature Vitalising Cleanser or Suti’s CLEANSE Organic Balm which will calm the skin while cleansing and exfoliating mildly.

Papaya & Willow Bark Smoothing Enzyme Exfoliator

My second favorite facial exfoliant is the Papaya and Willow Bark Smoothing Enzyme Exfoliator by Claribel Skincare. This one is a much more natural choice in terms of exfoliators as it utilizes willow bark (natural form of salicylic acid) and papaya enzymes to slough off dead skin cells. This is very similar in consistency to the Liquid Gold, but it smells a lot better (LG smells like nothing while this is a bit fruity smelling!) and is only meant to be left on for around 5-15 minutes before rinsing it off. You definitely feel the tingle with this one, though not as intensely as you might with the Liquid Gold, but it works really well nonetheless and does so very naturally. I love how minimal the ingredient list is as well – Aloe Vera, Papaya Enzyme (Lactobacillus/Papaya Fruit Ferment Extract), and Willow Bark Extract and that’s it. Also, this one is much more affordable than the Alpha-H and has much the same function.

Happy Sunday Everyone!

I hope you’ve all had a lovely weekend!

Personally, I’ve been relaxing while at the same time trying to get together the last bits for a few days of Christmas giveaways so definitely stay tuned for that! Products from lots of my favorite brands will be up for grabs as well as some little sample packs as well.

As for my actual weekend, I spent most of it hanging out at home playing the new WOW expansion – Mist of Pandaria – with my boyfriend. I am now a Panda in game haha. It’s so fun! Also, last night I went to the Festival of Lights at the Mission Inn in Riverside, It was insanely packed with people, but the lights were amazing!

Check Out My Week In Photos:

I made coffee with a french press midweek and enjoyed some homemade vegan creamer with it. Both were super easy to do! The french press – all you do is boil some water on the stove, add your coffee grounds to the bottom of the press, put the pressing mechanism over the grounds, add water and press down. It’s supposed to help the flavor come out. For the creamer, I made a cinnamon type version since it’s very fall. To make it, use 2 cups coconut milk, 2 cups almond milk, 4-6 tablespoons of your sweetener of choice ( I used maple syrup), 1-3 tsp ground cinnamon, 3 tsp of vanilla extract, and 1 tsp almond extract. You can put it all together and just shake it and use it that way or you can strain it after mixing it over low heat and then it will be more smooth.

I painted my nails on Friday with a shimmery oxblood burgundy red type color and then I added gold shadow pigment to my thumbs and used a sponge to texturize it. It came out alright – meh, I’m just not that skilled at doing nails!

I meant to feature some of the things I purchased for myself on Black Friday, but I was waiting for some things to arrive so I decided to postpone. I got the OCC Lip Tar in Memento & the Fresh Soy Face Cleanser at Sephora when I picked up the giveaway prizes and then I purchased the Claribel Skincare Exfoliating Body Cream and the Solia Straightener online. I’ve reviewed the Fresh cleanser before here – it’s a favorite basic to use! I’m new to the OCC Lip Tars, but loving this one so far and will review soon! I really want the True Red color one as well. They are really fun to experiment with! I’m liking the exfoliating body cream from Claribel Skincare thus far as well, but waiting on further testing to review my findings! The Solia hair straightener I got on discount from Folica.Com which has a lot of great products for both hair and skin. It works amazingly so far, but I’ll keep testing and post on it in about a month when I’ve experimented a bit more!

Living Nature sent me these lovely products for review and the Christmas giveaway so if you’d like your chance to win these 3, stay tuned for the giveaways opening very soon! Otherwise, I’ll be reviewing these 3 and their brand new colorful packaging (pictured above) which is out just in time for the holidays. I think they look lovely and would make a wonderful gift for anyone who loves Living Nature or maybe as a way to introduce them to the brand. They offer lots of kits and travel sets that will last quite a long time if you’re looking to introduce someone to these products or pick them up for yourself. It’s seriously good value. Check them out here. Also, you can check out my reviews for some other Living Nature products here.and their awesome liquid foundation here.

Last night, I went to the Lights Festival at the Mission Inn in Riverside, CA. As you can see, it was really packed ( this is the front of the hotel) and the lights were crazy extravagant. They do this every year and have stands where they sell kettle corn, candied almonds and hot cocoa and other fun things. It was a blast!

Papaya & Willow Bark Smoothing Enzyme Exfoliator; $14.95

Happy Friday Everyone!

I just wanted to take a moment to let you all know about this amazing skin exfoliator I have used that has a pretty natural ingredient list, an awesome price (see above), and really great results.

The Papaya & Willow Bark Smoothing Enzyme Exfoliator by Claribel Skincare is ultra gentle and very effective. I purchased it off Etsy for only $14.95 USD, which is an incredible price, and I was very surprised at the results.

The formula is pretty simple and includes aloe vera, papaya enzymes and willow bark extract to gently exfoliate the dead skin cells off your face in only 2-10 minutes!

It’s a very watery type consistency, but it comes in a dropper bottle to ensure you get just the exact amount that you will need, which isn’t a lot by the way.

You apply a thin layer to your face and leave on for 2-10 minutes. You will feel a light tingling and sometimes a little of an itchy type sensation, but that’s supposed to happen. Obviously you want to wash it off right away if you experience anything more than that. It doesn’t really dry out or anything, it just feels a bit tingly and then you rinse after it’s been 2-10 minutes, no longer than that. It really is quite gentle as far as exfoliator treatments go, but see what time you’re comfortable with within the 2-10 minutes of recommended time. Everyone is different so you may find that you only need 2 minutes or you might need all 10. Your skin may change over time as well; just gauge it on how your skin feels and you’ll be fine.

Anyhow, so after I wash this treatment off my skin feels incredibly soft and smooth. I do experience a little bit of redness directly after using this, but it goes away within 30 minutes of washing this off and applying moisturizer.

What I love about this treatment is that there are “No Sulfates, Synthetic Preservatives, Petroleum, Parabens or Silicones.” Also, it’s gentle enough to use twice a day if you need it.

From my experimenting with this treatment, I have found that these are the best uses for it:

  • Acne Treatment
  • Blackhead / Whitehead Treatment
  • Pore Cleansing
  • Unclog Pores
  • Clear Dead Skin Cells
  • Slough Off Dry Skin / Flakes for Mature Skin
  • Regenerate and Stimulate Cell Regeneration
  • Get Healthy and Naturally Glowing Skin

I really love this product because it combines modern technology with natural plant power. I love natural and organic ingredients wherever possible, but I have found that when it comes to acid exfoliation, technology usually wins. Also, I hate purchasing a product that’s natural or organic and usually expensive only to find that it doesn’t work. I like the idea of Claribel Skincare taking the best of both worlds to offer affordable products that certainly get the job done, but without all the fillers and other unnecessary crap ingredients found in many mainstream brand products.
