TONS of Naruko Skincare Samples: Speed Reviews

{All Naruko Skincare Samples were Provided for Review by Naruko USA}

If you’ve been following this blog for awhile, you’ll know I’m a huge fan of Naruko skincare. Their favorite products are the night jellies that they offer, but they also have various lines of skincare for different skin types, issues and concerns and I was lucky this past winter/ spring season to be able to test out a few of them for a few months.

Here’s a look at everything I received for review. Naruko has been super generous to me and I couldn’t be more grateful to have the opportunity to try more of their products because they are a brand that I would purchase from no matter what. If you’re unfamiliar with this brand, Naruko is a Taiwanese beauty brand that mainly offer a variety of skincare products for all your skin concerns including acne, dry skin, discoloration or pigmentation, and more. The brand is known for selling products that are naturally effective and include a variety of all natural ingredients combined with some scientific research to ensure the best results for your skin.

Rose & Botanic HA Aqua Cubic Hydrating Cream

The first item I tested out was their Rose & Botanic HA Aqua Cubic Hydrating Cream. It comes in an air tight plastic container which dispenses the perfect amount of cream out of a hole in it’s center when you press down on the top. It’s really sanitary and effective way to keep your cream clean as well as keep it from oxidation which will make ingredients less effective over time so I really like the packaging for it’s practical function. Aside from the packaging, this is a great cream for those with dry skin or combination skin who are dry in the winter or spring seasons. I got really super dry skin this past winter and this was a really nice cream to keep my skin from dehydration.

Rose & Botanic HA Aqua Cubic Hydrating Mask

I absolutely love sheet masks! They are super easy to use, effective and very mess-free. They come in rectangle envelopes with face shaped cotton masks that are pre-soaked in the mask ingredients so you literally just pull them out, place them on your face and relax for 10-15. A lot of them don’t even need to be rinsed off, though you can if you’d prefer to. This one is super hydrating and softening.

Rose & Botanic HA Aqua Cubic Foaming Wash

This face wash was hit and miss for me. On the one hand, I really enjoyed the gratifying peeling that happened when I used it. It basically lathers up really nicely and when you massage it onto your skin, it starts to peel the dead skin off your face to reveal brighter skin beneath and you can literally see the skin coming off in little pieces. It’s not painful and there’s very little to no abrasion going on so it’s done more chemically than anything. It doesn’t feel like a face scrub much at all so, if you’re not into scrubs, this doesn’t feel like that. Instead, it just massages dead skin off your face and reveals new skin after. I really liked the peeling bit of this face wash, but as for treating dryness, it was not nearly as much hydration as I wanted and needed in a winter cleanser. I actually think face balms work much better for me than this, which I found to be brightening, but still a bit drying. It may work better for others, but for me, it didn’t hydrate enough. This might be great for those who battle oily skin, but also have dryness.

Tea Tree Oil Out Peeling Gel

This is another peeling type product that’s super fun to use. It does feel more like a scrub as it has tiny little beads in the formula, but they aren’t rough at all to use. To use this, you apply a small amount to skin and massage it around your face gently (avoiding eye area) for a minute or so. You will see small pieces of skin come off in the same way as the face wash and you need to rinse after using this to get all the little pieces completely off. I liked this better than the face wash, but it still didn’t hydrate my skin enough. I really just enough the scent of the Naruko tea tree products, to be honest. This is a great one for acne prone skin types.

Rose & Snow Fungus Classic Hydrating Night Eye Gelly

This hydrating night eye jelly is perfect for under the eyes. It’s super thick and goopy feeling, but it will soak in completely within an hour so that does go away eventually. It really does hydrate the eye area and protect it nicely. It didn’t cause breakouts on my skin at all so that’s a great bonus for those who have dry under eyes, but experience eye sensitivity and acne, because it’s very hydrating without being heavy or causing irritation.

Rose & Snow Fungus Classic Hydrating Night Gelly

Although this hasn’t taken the place of my favorite night jelly, it’s still a really lovely Night Jelly and it’s especially beneficial for dry skin types or those currently experiencing dryness. It has a really lovely, yet subtle rose scent and feels hydrating, but light on the skin.

AMPM Super Triple HA Skin Hydrator Seru

AMPM Super Triple HA Skin Hydrator

This very hydrating, yet light serum has a high concentration of B vitamins and hyaluronic acid to help hydrate, plump, and soothe skin. I really like how light this serum is, despite the fact that it’s very moisturizing. I think this is perfect for combination and oily skin types who have trouble finding serums that both hydrate the skin and are not super heavy. This is a great one for those who have trouble with heavier moisturizers, but still want a hydrating serum to use.

Facial White Illuminating Cotton Pads

The last item I received is this box of texturized cotton pads that are unique to Naruko. They are dual sided with one side being very smooth and one side being cross-hatched for gently buffing the skin. These are fantastic to use with facial toners or to remove makeup because the cross-hatched side really buffs the skin clean and gently exfoliates while the smooth side polishes and smooths the surface. I really saw a huge difference in my skin with using these alongside a toner and I definitely think they’re worth the little extra cost.

Overall, these products from Naruko, unsurprisingly, were really awesome. They all work really well at hydrating the skin and putting some life into otherwise dry skin cells. I definitely had an issue with dryness this past season and these products all helped a lot. I don’t think there was anything I really loved out of this bunch, but they’re all pretty solid as good skincare choices in my book. I don’t think I’d use them in the Summer time really as my skin can’t really handle it and prefers oils to lotions. I know that sounds weird and backward, but that’s how my skin is. If I had to pick favorites, I would choose the Night Eye Jelly, the Tea Tree Peeling Gel and the Cotton Pads, but these are all worth a look if hydration is what you need so definitely give them a look!

Aurelia Miracle Skin Cleanser

{ This cleanser was provided to me by Aurelia Skincare for review }

I’m super excited to share the latest face cleanser I’ve been testing out by Aurelia Skincare!

The Miracle Cleanser, as they call it, is definitely one to obsess over!

First off, Aurelia Skincare offer a number of skincare products which all focus on offering natural healing to the skin.

They seek to achieve this by utilizing natural Bio-Organic plant essences and oils in their product formulations as well as their own unique probiotic technology which helps balance stressed skin in order to allow your skin to reap the most benefits from these valuable natural ingredients.

It’s all very high tech and complicated, but the idea is that your skin can be damaged over time by stress, inflammation, and other factors caused by diet, the environment, etc. and which can cause skin issues such as premature aging, acne, and redness and the technology combined with the ingredients in the Aurelia Skincare products seek to correct and heal these issues in order to bring new life to your skin.

Utilizing a number of plant oils and essences including coconut oil, shea butter, chamomile, eucalyptus, rosemary, and bergamot, this super creamy cleanser is very softening, hydrating, and healing. It feels a lot like a cross between using Pond’s cold cream and the Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish because it feels super creamy and lotion-like, but it’s quite cleansing and has a similar scent to the Cleanse & Polish.

What I really love about this cleanser is the fact that when I use it with my clarisonic, it leaves my skin super soft, calm and hydrated.

The Liz Earle sometimes made my skin a bit dry, but this does not at all. I also really enjoyed using the muslin cloth they sent with this cleanser as well because it also gives the skin that smooth, soft feel while still gently exfoliating.

It seems like it would be a great way for sensitive skin to exfoliate without causing irritation.

Last of all, I’ve been using this quite regularly and I have experienced very little to no breakouts at all in the entire time which seriously impresses me, especially given that this cleanser is so thick and creamy so I highly recommend this cleanser as one that any skin type can try comfortably.

Check it out on the Aurelia Skincare website – here.

You can also learn more about the cleanser in a video they’ve done on it – here.

Nuxe Aroma Perfection Masque Unclogging Thermo Actif Face Mask

I was super excited when The Beauty Box sent me this awesome face mask by Nuxe Skincare as I’d never tried a Nuxe product before, but I’d heard loads of good things around many of the blogs that I follow.

First off, if you’re unfamiliar with Nuxe Skincare, they are a higher end skincare company that offer tons of beauty products, especially skincare, and often feature many botanical ingredients in their product formulations.

This face mask – the Aroma Perfection Unclogging Thermo Actif Mask – includes a variety of skin beneficial ingredients such as kaolin clay, rice powder, various plant extracts, hyaluronic acid, and various natural acids to help slough off dead skin cells and reveal healthier, clearer and more even toned skin that is hydrated and radiant.

The mask itself feels really gooey, but has a sandy like texture that feels a lot more like a scrub than a face mask. When applied to skin, it immediately warms up so you definitely feel the “thermo actif” bit they mention in the name. It doesn’t burn or anything – it just feels quite warm. It’s meant to be massaged into the skin gentle for about a minute or so and then left on for 2-3 minutes before rinsing it off.

I really love that this feels like a face scrub and mask in one and the heating bit is really a nice touch that makes you feel like the mask is “working,” but the effects speak for themselves. After using this, my skin felt soft, hydrated, calm and clear, and more even toned. This is a fantastic face mask to use if you are short on time, but want to get the quick results that more time consuming face masks will give you because this does it in less time.  Another great thing about this mask is that it’s one of the more affordably priced items from Nuxe so you don’t have to break the bank to get hold of one. It’s a simple way to exfoliate and treat your skin all at once and I definitely recommend it.

You can check it out on The Beauty Box – here.

COR Silver Soap – The Beauty Box

Having acne freaking SUCKS.

As someone who suffers from frequent breakouts, blackheads and often troubled skin, I can totally relate which is why I’m super excited to share this amazing facial cleansing bar with you all today.

If you have acne prone skin, especially if you deal with oily to combination skin, this is a great facial soap bar to have on hand.

First off, special thanks to The Beauty Box for sending over the small sample of this amazing soap!

If you’re unfamiliar with COR Silver Soap, it’s not just any soap bar.  Formulated with patented ingredients and delivery system, this soap includes a variety of powerful ingredients such as their patented CSC compound (Collagen, Sericin, & Chitosan) , Vitamins A & E, various nourishing oils such as jojoba and avocado, hyaluronic acid, and, of course, Silver. Known for it’s use in medicinal healing of burns, silver blocks the survival of bacteria in cell walls because it prevents oxygen from being transferred to it, thereby stopping it and essentially killing acne causing bacteria in your skin. It’s patented delivery system allows the nourishing ingredients such as vitamins A & E, hyaluronic acid and nourishing plant oils to be absorbed into the skin while silver-silica help kill bacteria and ensure absorption of the beneficial ingredients this soap has to offer.  Their patented CSC compound – Collagen, Sericin & Chitosan is specially developed using Japanese advanced skin technology. Collagen is derived from sustainable marine collagen and helps add a more youthful appearance to skin while sericin, a natural protein derived from silk, helps to form a protective layer on the skin that works to protect the skin from the effects of the sun, and chitosan, a natural fibre, works to even out skin tone and balance skin’s oil production.

Their super high tech science aside, this is likely the best facial cleansing bar I’ve ever tried. I really am not a huge fan of using bar soap, generally, because most of them include harsh detergents and very little beneficial ingredients so all they do is strip the skin of it’s natural oils and protective layer. Many of them can actually cause more acne or worsen preexisting acne, but this facial cleansing bar is one of a kind.

When I use this to wash my face, I do so after I’ve already oil cleansed any makeup or sunscreen off my face so it’s the second stage of cleansing for me, but you can use it as it suits you. The bar lathers really nicely, but feels more creamy and clarifying instead of stripping like most soap bars. Sometimes I leave it on for 5 minutes to let the ingredients absorb into my skin a bit more, but you don’t need to do that. It’s just a step I do when I want my skin to be extra clean without the hassle of a face mask or any extra work. When rinsed off, this doesn’t make my skin feel tight or dry, just clean and supple. I actually notice a huge difference in my skin after using this for a few weeks. My skin looks clearer and even toned, I’ve experienced less breakouts, and my blackheads actually seem to be diminishing slowly which is a huge selling point for me! I don’t know about you guys, but nothing gets my blackheads to even budge so that really impresses me a lot!

Overall, this is a solid cleansing bar that I will definitely be repurchasing once I run out of because it’s that awesome. I highly recommend this to anyone suffering from acne, especially if your complexion is really oily or just really imbalanced, going from dry to oily. I have acne prone combination skin that is often sensitive and this doesn’t dry me out or irritate my skin. It cleanses really well without stripping my skin and definitely helps clear my pores out. Although I’m still partial to cleansing balms, this is definitely something I’d incorporate into my weekly skin regimen or even just keep on hand for when my skin breaks out because you can see the results overnight where breakouts are concerned.

Thanks again to the lovely people at The Beauty Box for sending this soap to me to test and review!

Skin Owl Argan Infusions

Back in late February, I wrote this post introducing Annie Tevelin, AKA the Skin Owl, and interviewing her on her lovely line of minimal, but nonetheless effective Skin Owl Argan Infusions. I’ve been testing out 3 samples that she sent me, 1 of each type of Argan Infusion available, of these lovely skin treatments and I’m happy to report back that these are just as awesome as they sound!

First off, they come in 3 different variations – Lavender, Clary Sage and Geranium. Although they are said to be suited for all skin types, each has a focus. For instance, lavender is said to be most beneficial for sensitive, oily, and acne prone skin while clary sage is said to be best for dry, mature skin types. Geranium is said to be best for combination skin types and those battling dullness. That being said, they are all safe for use on all skin types and I can attest to that because I’ve used all 3 of them on my sensitive, acne prone, combination skin with lovely results.

Argan Infusion: Lavender

They all come in lovely, yet simple dropper bottles and each has a different, but pleasant scent. My favorite is the lavender because I find it really relaxing and I got the best results with it, given it’s most recommended for my skin type. That being said, the others worked well also, but the results were less noticeable.

These all absorb almost immediately into the skin, leaving no residue behind, though a slight after thought of their given scents remain for a bit then fade after 30 or so minutes. Overnight, the results are pretty noticeable. Acne looks calmer and more diminished, redness and pigmentation look more calm and even which gives the skin more clarity, and the skin just looks much better on the whole.

One thing I will say is that if you have very dry skin, I would recommend this be used in conjunction with a more intense moisturizer or balm like Suti’s Organic Purity Balm or something as this is not moisturizing enough, in my opinion, for dry patches. I do think it’s plenty enough for combination to oily skin types, though, especially in Spring and Summer months. For dry skin types or in the Winter if you’ve experienced patchiness, you will need to layer a cream or balm over this. That being said, the results will still be apparent as I’ve used these both alone on the skin and underneath a skin balm with the same results.

Aside from use on the face, this can also be used to treat dryness  on the body, decollete and hands, though, again, you may need to layer a heavier balm if you’re battling serious dryness. For simple things like elbow patchiness, though, this will do fine alone. I had the best results with the Geranium Argan Infusion for skin dryness, but I think any one of these would work well. I also used the Clary Sage Argan Infusion on the ends of my hair which helped tame some flyaways really nicely and on the bottom of my feet. No idea if it had much effect on my feet, but the scent and feeling of it was nice and relaxing before bed! You’ll likely get best results on your feet is you apply a few drops and then put on socks before bedtime. I also used the Lavender Argan Infusion to heal some little cuts and a small oven burn I’d gotten on my hands and it really helped them to heal and diminish a LOT faster than if left to heal in their own time.

Overall, these Argan Infusions work superbly {yep I said that} and I’d highly recommend them to anyone and everyone who has skin concerns that need tending to – these are just the treatments to get the job done!

What Are Your Thoughts On These?

I’d Love to Know in the Comments!

I was recently sent a sample of this Intensive-C® Vitamin C Face Radiance Peel by Murad Skincare from The Beauty Box, a lovely online beauty retailer, which sells a number of popular and unique niche indie beauty products at great prices. I really love the site’s wishlist function which, once you set up an account, allows you to save the products you want to a wish list for later. I’m kind of obsessed with wish lists because they’re handy for keeping track of all the things I want, especially when it comes to beauty things.

Anyway, I was super excited to try this out as I’ve been praising Dr. Murad and his skin philosphies on this blog since the early days. If you weren’t with us yet, do check out this post and this post to learn more about Dr. Howard Murad’s awesome views on beauty and health. Otherwise, try out this delicious smoothie recipe from his book.

So, since receiving this from the lovely ladies of The Beauty Box a few weeks ago, I’ve tested it out several times and I am really happy to report back to you that this face peel works really well and surprisingly fast. It comes out of the squeeze tube easily enough and you can control how much comes out given it’s in a tube which I really like as I hate to waste product. It looks pretty much like a face lotion and you apply a thin layer to your face after cleansing. Then, you leave it on for up to 10 minutes and rinse off with a warm wash cloth. The feel of this isn’t nearly as noticeable as the Liquid Gold from Alpha-H which has a noticeable tingle to it. I don’t know if this will offer similar long term results to that, but it’s certainly a more gentle option for those who can’t bear the tingle of Alpha-H’s glycolic acid products. If you prefer a more natural peel option, check here.

This peel, as many of the products in the Intensive-C® line from Murad, utilizes a number of beneficial ingredients for the skin including glycolic acid and vitamin C which work to slough off dead skin cells and fight off free radical damage brought on by stress, pollution and UV rays to reveal a brighter, healthier complexion. They also utilize a variety of natural essential oils, plant extracts, clays and amino acids to help heal and encourage cell turnover and collagen production.

The difference between before and after using this is like night and day for me. I tried it a few weeks ago, for the first time, not thinking it’d be too effective, but I was really surprised that the effects seemed so immediately noticeable on my skin. After I rinsed the peel off, my skin looked instantly brighter, clearer, and felt softer and smoother. I’m not sure how they’re doing it all, but it really does work time and again as I’ve now used it several times and can attest to the consistent results this delivers. Not only that, but I do think it has actually improved my skin for the better and would certainly recommend it to those battling dullness, acne scarring or hyperpigmentation or brown spots, and other discoloration. Although I wish this was a more natural formula, the results are undeniable.

You can check this peel out at The Beauty Box – here.

Hot Cleansing Oil

I’ve been meaning to review this cleansing oil for some time as I’ve had it and been testing it in various ways, on and off, since December. I know, I know, that’s a crazy long time, but I’ve just had so much stuff to review, it’s been overwhelming to test everything properly and review them in good time so I hope you’ll forgive me 😛

Anyway, this cleansing oil was sent to me for review from the lovely people over at Gold Sakura, a beauty shop which exclusively offers natural Japanese beauty products, and I was thrilled because I love Asian beauty products! If you haven’t experienced Asian beauty products yet, you really ought to. This particular cleansing oil is the Moist Hinoki Deitanseki Hot Cleansing Oil which is a naturally formulated cleanser from Japan that utilizes honey, yogurt filtrate, castor oil and Japanese cypress oil also known in Japanese as Hinoki.

This cleansing oil is perfect for all skin types, especially acne prone, because it really heats up when you use it and clears out pores, unlike some cleansing oils which can feel leave a heavy oily residue, this one feels heavy while you cleanse your skin, but it deep cleans and rinses completely off so there’s no film left on the skin when you’re done and your skin still gets completely clean. Another thing I really love about this cleansing oil is the hinoki ( Japanese cypress oil ) in it because it makes the oil feel almost cooling to the skin while you massage it in and leaves the skin feeling really fresh and clean like a more stripping cleanser would, only without the stripping or the harsh ingredients.

This is great for removing makeup and its super gentle, yet effective. I highly recommend this for those struggling with acne who also battle dryness because this hydrates without irritating or clogging pores. All other skin types could probably benefit from using this as well, though I think it’d be most beneficial for dry acne prone skin types. The cooling, refreshing effect of it really does feel like a Japanese hot spring or something and I’ve quite enjoyed trying it out!

You can learn more about and purchase this cleansing oil from Gold Sakura – here.

Annie Tevelin – the Skin Owl

SkinOwl

I recently discovered a new beauty brand called SkinOwl – a beauty brand created by the Skin Owl herself, Annie Tevelin. After years of working in the beauty industry and experiencing the empty promises of many over priced and often ineffective cosmetic brands, the Skin Owl (Annie’s alter ego)  was created as a way to fight off Annie’s skin problems in a natural, yet effective way that was affordable, honest and simple. The goal is for SkinOwl to be a voice of truth in the beauty industry. I was very lucky to be able to pick the Skin Owl’s brain and share a bit of her brilliance and philosophy on beauty – Read on for my interview with her!

Argan Infusion: Lavender

Argan Infusion: Lavender

How did you first get into beauty?

I was so enthralled with skincare and makeup as a child. Every time I went shopping with my mother I would wander off to the cosmetics department. The women were so pretty, so put together. They were my first beauty mentors. I would go from counter to counter asking for tips and tricks and I was no more than 10! I was a sponge, taking everything in at such a young age. All the colors and textures. I was enamored. I’m convinced makeup taught me what color was way before Crayola. It wasn’t until I turned 25 that I decided to change careers and take a risk on a long-lost dream.

When did you create your alter ego, the Skin Owl, and what is the meaning behind the name itself?

SkinOwl was created in 2011 and was born to fill a void in the cosmetics industry. Like many of my clients, I spent a lot of money on products and treatments that didn’t work. Dermatologists cost me a lot of money and most of what they prescribed irritated my skin in the long run. When I thought about all of the women who might feel overwhelmed or lost when shopping for products, and with so many products available to them, I knew I had something to offer them with my experience. It just made sense for me to help people the best I could to look and feel their most beautiful. SkinOwl defines beautiful skin, wisdom, and truth as one entity.

Argan Infusion: Clary Sage

I’ve done a bit of reading about your products and I know that they include what you call the Argan Infusion. What exactly is the Argan Infusion and why is it so beneficial to skin?

Argan Infusion is a luxurious facial oil that can be used as a treatment or moisturizer on the face, nails and body. It comes in three infusions, Lavender, Geranium, and Clary Sage, each of which cater to different skin concerns. I’m not interested in creating “fluffy” products. I only want to offer healthy ingredients in products that work & Argan Infusion is a prime example of that. The anti-inflammatory properties are noticed after one day. The skin’s luminosity and radiance is restored in less than a week. And within a month, most people claim that they’ve never seen their skin look so youthful and balanced. It’s exciting to watch!

Argan Infusion: Geranium

Why is beauty integrity so important to you, not only as a person, but as a brand?
Integrity is the most important thing a person can have. It makes or breaks a person’s character. I’ve always wanted my personal life to mirror my professional life. I can’t imagine seeking a healthy lifestyle, having a positive outlook, and trying to achieve balance in my personal life without wanting the same for my company. SkinOwl has allowed me take what I find important and apply it elsewhere, so that it hopefully brings out the best in others.
And finally, please describe your idea of true beauty in one word or phrase.
“True beauty has nothing to hide. Feeling beautiful, not looking beautiful, is the key. “
– the Skin Owl

Thanks so much to the Skin Owl for her lovely and honest interview!

Nip+Fab CC Cream

I’ve never tried anything from Nip+Fab, but it seems to be pretty popular in the UK and I know CC creams are gaining a lot of steam. I don’t know that I’m necessarily into jumping on that bandwagon, but this one looks like it might be okay.

Anyone tried it?

Rouge Bunny Rouge XXX Lip Plump Gloss

Rouge Bunny Rouge XXX Lip Plump Gloss

Last year I tried a few RBR products, including their Bronzing Liquid, Blush Wand ( Titian ), and their Tinted Moisturizer (see those reviews – here) – all of which were really lovely and I’ve been curious to try their other products. This is a new plumping lip gloss they’ve recently come out with and I love the packaging. I know, I’m kind of shallow when it comes to cosmetics at times, but whatever.

Invisible Pores Detox Mask

REN Invisible Pores Detox Mask

 REN Invisible Pores Detox Mask

I have heard a TON of good things about REN Skincare, but haven’t tried it for myself. They have a lot of different lines within their brand for different skin types and concerns (sensitive, acne prone, etc) and this is a face mask meant for combination skin.

ISUN – Blackhead Solvent Oil

ISUN Skincare Blackhead Solvent Oil

I tried a bunch of mini samples from the ISUN line a few months ago ( you can see that post – here ) and really liked their natural skincare products so I thought this would be an interesting product to try given that I always have trouble getting rid of blackheads, especially on my nose. I like that they give step by step instructions on how to remove blackheads while using this oil.

Bio Retinoid Anti-Ageing Concentrate

REN Bio Retinoid Anti-Ageing Concentrate

REN Bio Retinoid Anti-Ageing Concentrate

Although I don’t seem to have many wrinkles at this point in my life since I’m 23, I do like using anti-aging serums and creams anyway because I’m prepared like that, but often they tend to be on the heavy side. I love that this one is a retinoid serum because retinol seems to work really well on my combination skin and it is an ingredient that has a lot of benefits to its use from aiding in clearing acne to fine lines to hyper-pigmentation so I’m definitely interested in this as an all-in-one treatment serum!

Marvis – Amarelli Licorice Toothpaste

Marvis – Amarelli Licorice Toothpaste

I don’t know why, but I just think the idea of this toothpaste sounds so exotic and fun. I love the design of the tube and I also love that the formula includes licorice for cleansing teeth because licorice is actually an anti-inflammatory and would be beneficial for the entire mouth area, in my opinion.

Moroccan Rose Otto Ultra-Moisture Body Oil

Moroccan Rose Otto Ultra-Moisture Body Oil

Moroccan Rose Otto Ultra-Moisture Body Oil

I’ve seen SO many reviews on the REN Moroccan Rose Otto line of body products and they look absolutely lush! I love rose scented things when they are done right so I hope this line of one of those because I’m not a fan of that Grandma’s house potpourri scent at all. Lol.

ILIA – Mascara – Macao

ILIA Beauty – Mascara in Macao

Ever since I saw this on the Beauty Habit site a few weeks ago, I’ve been a bit obsessed with it and I really love ILIA Beauty in general (see my post on other ILIA Beauty products – here).  I just love the coppery color because it seems really unique and like it would brighten up the eye area a lot. I love deep black mascara, but I seem to be getting more into colors these days.

Tarte Maracuja Creaseless Concealer

Tarte Maracuja Creaseless Concealer

Unfortunately, due to time constraints and my budget, I haven’t been able to try any Tarte products so far. I saw this the other day at Sephora and swatched it, though, and it does seem really lovely. You might know about my constant search for a good concealer that’s both hydrating, yet not oily, and this might be it. Plus, I’ve been really curious to try Tarte products for ages and this might be a good way to start!

Antonia Burrell – Cream Supreme Moisturizer

Antonia Burrell – Cream Supreme Moisturizer

Last summer, I first tried a mini sample of Antonia Burrell’s Natural Glow Cleansing Oil ( see that review – here ) and loved it. It is still my favorite cleansing oil to date and I’ll be purchasing a full size very soon, but I saw that they also carry this moisturize which seems like a great option for times when my skin gets a bit drier. Plus, this moisturizer is targeted at every skin problem you can think of from blackheads and acne to hyper-pigmentation and scarring. It’s expensive, but if it delivers as well as their cleansing oil, I think it’s definitely worth the price!

Argan Infinity Cream Intensive Creamy Oil

Argan Infinity Cream Intensive Creamy Oil

I spotted this on a recent trip to Sephora and was immediately enthralled. I think it would make a great body moisturizer and it has this lovely citrusy scent that’s really nice so I definitely want to try this one out! I love that it includes healing argan oil like many of the JM products do.

STEAMCREAM – Melody

STEAMCREAM – Melody

love Steamcream! Seriously. I recently ran out of the sample I received from them in Chagrin which I absolutely loved and was super depressed to find out they had discontinued it. Then I spotted this one on Beauty Habit and I love the design! It reminds me of Burberry and I just like that classic look a lot. Honestly, I’d buy all the Steamcreams if I could afford it. They’re just awesome. You can read my original SteamCream review – here.

Fresh Skincare Rose Face Mask

Fresh Skincare Rose Face Mask

I really like Fresh Skincare’s Soy line of products ( see my review for the Fresh Soy Cleanser – here ), but I’ve been yearning after this Rose Face Mask for ages. I am always swatching it at Sephora, but it’s so expensive ($50!) for a face mask that I don’t even know will be worth it. It smells amazing, just like cucumbers, but it has pieces of rose in it and looks a bit like tea or something. I will have it one day!

Liquid Gold Radiance

Liquid Gold Radiance Brightening Lotion

I’m a huge fan of Alpha-H products and you’ll know all about that if you’ve been following this blog for a small measure of time. They have super effective, awesome products. If this is all new to you, check out my original post on them – here. I’m not sure if this is a new Alpha-H product or maybe I just never noticed it before, but it sounds awesome! It’s meant to brighten skin (obviously) using their signature glycolic acid and also, in turn, help with diminishing the appearance of scarring and hyper-pigmentation. I don’t deal with a lot of scarring or brown spots, but I have a few and they bug. Maybe I’m neurotic (yep), but I’d like to treat that before it becomes an issue and who doesn’t like bright skin, right?

Christophe Robin – Cleansing Purifying Scrub with Sea Salt

Christophe Robin – Cleansing Purifying Scrub with Sea Salt

I saw this and just thought it looked like a really interesting product! It’s a scrub for your scalp and it’s meant to really cleanse. It’s meant for people who deal with itchy scalps or oily scalps a lot, but personally, I don’t deal with those issues much (unless it’s super hot out) and would likely use this as a weekly clarifying treatment instead of using a clarifying shampoo which I think can be stripping a lot of the time. I like that you massage it into the scalp because I think it would be helpful in hair growth, but that’s my own hypothesis, not a claim made by the company. Also, my boyfriend deals with an itchy oily scalp all the time so it might help him as well!

What Products Are You Looking To Try Lately or Loving That You Tried Recently?

Let Me Know in the Comments Below!

Happy Friday!

I am soo ready for the weekend!

I don’t know why, but this week has just been exhausting for me and I need some rest. Plus, I failed to wake up the past 2 days and didn’t go to the gym because I felt so exhausted so I’ll be working out today through the weekend to make up for it. Cannot believe I did that, but lady problems ( if you know what I mean ) have made me sluggish and moody. Lol.

Anyway, onto better things!

Over a week ago, I was sent more goodies from the lovely May Lindstrom and I got so excited about it that I proceeded to spam my Instagram with overly excited photos of everything (and if you like that sort of thing, definitely follow me @StorybookBeauty !).

I received a full size of The Good Stuff Radiance Oil and a mini sample of The Clean Dirt Cleanser. The Clean Dirt Cleanser looks almost identical to the Problem Solver Mask (check the bottom of this post for a link to that review!) that I previously received from May Lindstrom, but slightly less potent (thank goodness) so there was less sneezing on my part when I actually went to use it. It comes in a dry powder form that you mix with a bit of water to form a paste and then massage into the skin.

If you want to see exactly how The Clean Dirt should be used, below is a video of May Lindstrom herself demonstrating!

I really enjoyed trying this little mini sample of The Clean Dirt out. It’s a great cleanser for those who love to have that totally deep cleansing effect without using an abrasive product because even though it’s a mixture of several clay powders, minerals, raw spices, and raw cacao powder, it’s still really gentle on the skin. Aside from the gentle powder ingredients, this cleanser also includes a very unique form of vitamin C which is activated when it hits water to help increase blood flow on the skin and encourage cell turnover. Vitamin C is also said to help improve collagen production, assist with blemishes and pigmentation, and generally improve the overall condition of the skin.

It certainly helps to clean out the pores and I love that about it. For my combination skin, I still like to alternate between this and a more nourishing cleanser because my skin has been so dry, but this one cleans really well. The packaging is super luxurious and it smells nearly identical to the Problem Solver Mask – just like hot chocolate! Overall, I really like this cleanser and I think I might purchase the full size when it gets closer to Summer because it would really come in handy during the hot months when my skin inevitably gets super oily and somewhat clogged. I definitely recommend this to oily, combination (in Spring/Summer months) and acne prone skin types because I’ve found it to be especially beneficial at clearing my skin of breakouts, especially the annoyingly small white heads and blackheads. This cleanser has made a huge difference in the amount of blackheads on my nose area so, if you’re like me and have them on your nose or chin area, this can really help you clear up that situation!

You can learn more (and purchase, if you like!) about the Clean Dirt Cleanser – here.

Next up is this amazing multi-use oil, The Good Stuff Radiance Oil, which I have been loving!

Again, like all of the May Lindstrom products (at least the ones I’ve tried so far!), save for the Youth Dew, this one smells deliciously of chocolate! Yum!

I absolutely love chocolate so trying out these May Lindstrom products has been great, though I’ve been tempted to eat the products JUST KIDDING (please don’t eat them! Lol).

But really, The Good Stuff Radiance Oil really is Good Stuff.

Aside from it’s amazing scent, the formula includes cocoa, rose, lavender and ylang ylang along with various plant oils and shimmery minerals to help relax and rejuvenate the senses while also healing and hydrating the skin. It does include a bit of translucent minerals that add shimmer to the oil itself, which I love, and coupled with the plant oils, this oil really helps hydrate the skin. I’ve used to all over, including on my face, the bath, and a few times in my hair (on the ends, that is) to excellent effect!

On the body, this is a no brainer – it smells incredible and makes your skin feel all soft and look super glowing. As advised, it is best used directly after a bath or shower when your skin is still damp as it will absorb the oils into your skin much more effectively and leave your skin really soft and supple. I felt a bit like Todd, the Vegan, in Scott Pilgrim V. the World ( kidding again ), but I really felt and looked healthily glowing. On the face, I felt like it almost gave my skin a mini faux glow that was really natural looking, yet made my skin look more flushed and hydrated. On my hair, I don’t really know that it did much except tame small flyaways, but the smell is so hypnotic that I loved having it infused into my wet hair because I could smell it all day thereafter. In the bath, it really helps soften skin and the scent is super relaxing and enjoyable.

really love this oil and I will definitely repurchase when I run out. Though the May Lindstrom products are not cheap, by any means, I really feel you do get good value for your money as The Clean Dirt and The Problem Solver Mask both come in dry form and will last you ages, literally. They all come in lovely, top quality glass bottles that look super chic on your bathroom counter, but more importantly, they actually work and they do so without using harmful, artificial ingredients.
