RainwaterBotanicalsXmasGiveaway2012

It’s yet another day of Christmas giveaways!

Are you excited yet?! ūüėÄ

Today’s giveaway feature one of my favorite affordable organic brands on Etsy – Rainwater Botanicals.

I’ve spoke about this brand over and over because they are handmade, super affordable, and they include organic and wild crafted ingredients in their skincare and body care products. More than that, their products work really effectively to heal skin with natural ingredients. To read my original post on Rainwater Botanicals,¬†check here.

Today’s giveaway prizes are 2 of my favorite serums from this brand. Firstly, the Skin Repair Serum is fantastic for hydrating all skin types, combating premature aging, and fighting acne prone skin all at the same time. It’s been a big favorite of mine for ages and I think it’s so versatile as it’s meant to work for all skin types. The other serum is the Troubled Skin Facial Serum which helps to fight breakouts, but unlike many acne treatment products, this one is a super hydrating cream that heals acne gently and without drying the skin out. Both serums smell amazing and both work brilliantly!

Special thanks to¬†Rainwater Botanicals¬†for sponsoring today’s giveaway – it means so much to me as someone who loves the brand and as a blogger so thank you!

Sjal Skincare Samples Mini Reviews

Sjal Skincare is a fairly new luxury skincare company whose samples were sent to me for review.

I was pretty intrigued by this company because their goal in offering skincare products is to “…encompass luxury, cosmeceuticals and spirituality…”

They incorporate “an eastern infusion of precious minerals and gemstones” such as gold, silver, ruby and amethyst which they claim will provide many benefits to the skin including “skin clarity, cellular productivity, and micro-circulation.”

Light Cellular Renewal Creme; $155

This cream includes a blend of licorice, oligo- and penta-peptides and bisabol in order to even out skin tone, promote cellular renewal, and fight photo aging (sun damage).

I really like the consistency of this cream; it is very light and absorbs right away. That being said, I didn’t observe any of these effects really. It may be because I had one tiny sample foil and the effects increase over time with continued use; I’m not sure. To me, this is just a nicely made cream that any skin type would be okay to use. It is gentle, has a subtle and pleasant scent, and it didn’t cause any breakouts.

Other than that no other effects could be observed except maybe a slightly more even tone.

This is certainly a luxury at $255 so, if you have the cash to spare, it may be worth a try, but if not, I would pass on this.

I wish I had been able to try a larger size in this because trying a small foil of a product like this just seems useless to observe effects which are likely seen over time.

That being said, it is a really nice cream, but as for the effects, I can’t attest to it as I was not able to test this for a long enough period of time.

Eye Contour Creme; $175

This eye cream is meant to reduce puffiness, fatty deposits, wrinkles and dark circles.

This is a really nice eye cream. Although I didn’t see any of the anti wrinkle effects, it is gentle enough to be used on any skin type. I often experience little whiteheads or breakouts whenever I try eye creams, but this one was really calming and didn’t irritate my skin at all and for that, I think it’s pretty note worthy.

Other than that, it did reduce puffiness a big and hydrated my under eyes pretty well.

Over time, I think I would’ve seen the wrinkle and fatty deposit effects, though I am not really sure what fatty deposit even means in terms of my under eyes?

If you know, by all means, please let me know in the comments!

Liquid Vitamin Lift Serum 1; $255

This was my favorite product from Sjal Skincare!

It feels a lot like putting really hydrating water on your skin because this serum is SO light, but it’s super hydrating at the same time.

It feels really nice to put on, it has a transparent sort of blue tint to it (which I just thought was entertaining), and nice subtle scent that seems familiar, but I can’t quite place it.

It certainly felt like it had a lifting effect to it and it was very hydrating and brightening.

Out of all these super luxe products, this is the only one that I would seriously consider dropping $255 for.

It really feels quite effective.

If you have buckets of cash, I highly recommend this one!

A little bit goes a long long way given the consistency and it definitely seems to live up to its claims.

Perfecting Mask; $150

This face mask is meant to lift, firm, calm, hydrate, regenerate and minimize pores in the skin.

It includes botanical plants and herbs as well as silk proteins, healing oils and other elements.

This mask is not your typical face mask.

I didn’t sense any clay in this mask at all; in fact, it has more of a gel consistency and a blue tint to it.

It goes on pretty transparent, again a little goes a long way, and it seems to work pretty well.

It calmed some redness I had going on midway through the week and did seem to be firming to the skin.

I’m not sure if it helped repair DNA or improve cell turnover, but my skin appeared a lot brighter and clearer after using this mask.

All in all, it’s a decent face mask, but I feel I would’ve gotten more results over time.

Again, if you have the cash to spare, check it out.

One of My Favorite & Ultra Affordable Organic Brands: Rainwater Botanicals

For a lot of people, the mere thought of organic skincare seems unattainable and expensive, but I promise you it doesn’t have to be!

A few years ago, I was searching high and low online to find the best organic skincare companies. After finding the amazing craft website, Etsy.com, I found Rainwater Botanicals and I was so thrilled to find an amazing skincare company with great ethics, high quality organic ingredients and products I could definitely afford that are both aesthetically pleasing, conscientious and show results to boot.

Based in beautiful Pacific Beach, Washington,¬†Rainwater Botanicals¬†make a wide array of items for every skin type, skin concern and need in mind. AND, if you can’t find what you’re looking for in shop, just shoot the incredible founder Sara a message through Etsy and she can make a recommendation. In business since 1999, this lady¬†knows¬†what she is talking about.

Here Are A Few of My Favorite Things from Rainwater Botanicals:

Intensive Skin Repair Serum for Scars, Wrinkles & Acne ; $10

This is one of the very first products that I tried from Rainwater Botanicals and I still love it to this day! It smells amazing, though I am not sure what’s in it. It calms redness, acne breakouts and moisturizes the skin without being overly oily or greasy.

Troubled Skin Serum with Frankincense and Tamanu ; $15

I recently tried this serum to help combat breakouts. It works SO well against breakouts and feels really light and fresh. It smells delicious, of course, and even though it’s a serum, it feels more like a light and airy cream. It is not heavy at all. It leaves your skin matte, but not dry after use. I even got my brother hooked onto this!

Sea Buckthorn and Pomegranate Intensive Serum ; $10

So, this serum is more or less for people older than me, but I wanted to try it because I am wrinkle paranoid (or delusional depending on who you ask). I really like the way this smells as well, but my favorite part of this serum is the fact that it gives me an awesome faux glow. I think it must be due to the pomegranate oil that gives this serum an orangey color, but when I wear it , it makes me look like my skin is glowing with no makeup or anything. AND if I wear it to bed, I have a REAL glow in the morning.

Lavender Vanilla Aluminum Free Deodorant ; $7.50

I had been searching for an aluminum free deodorant for awhile and this works great. It doesn’t block natural perspiration, but it does control body odor pretty well. The Lavender Vanilla smells great and so does the Patchouli Citrus, though it is a more masculine scent (my boyfriend uses the Patchouli Citrus). I actually like the formula for this deodorant because it moisturizes and prevents that hideous discoloration and dryness that your under arms tend to get over time. ¬†The only downside to this is that it melts easily in summer so you end up having to spread it with your hand a bit when you wear it to get even coverage. It works without any issues in winter or cooler climates.

Herbal Healing Salve for Natural Healing ; $4.50

I was so accidentally in love with this salve (you like that? ūüėČ ) because I ended up getting it as a free sample with an order and loved it so much that I have re-ordered like 3 more times since then. It comes in 3 sizes. The smallest one (seen above) is great to keep in your purse for small cuts, bruises or even acne breakouts! I discovered the last one because I like to experiment in a “Let’s see what this does!” sort of way sometimes to horrific results, but this was GREAT. I used the convenient chapstick type applicator to rub over breakouts and it works like a kind of liquid bandage, protecting the breakout and helping it heal.

Moisturizing Coconut and Dead Sea Salt Spray For Hair ; $9

This is one of the more recent purchases I have made from Rainwater Botanicals.

Like everything else made by my skin care fairy godmother, Sara, this is nonetheless amazing than everything else she makes!

You can get this in a variety of different scents or opt for the unscented version.

My favorite is the coconut scent. Not only does it smell delicious, but it works just as well if not better than all of those “beach waves” “sea spray beach” type products from more expensive brands.

After showering, I like to use this on my ends as a detangler first and then I put my hair in a top bun and spray the bun lightly.

After an hour or two, Iet my hair down to some really natural looking and beautiful wavy curls.

If your hair is curly wavy like mine is, you may even experience some little curl locks!

It is such a lovely effect.
